Via Adam Schefter:
Tampa Bay plans to hire Rutgers coach Greg Schiano as the next Buccaneers head coach. Two sides trying to finalize contract.

Part of me feels like they just threw a bunch of names in a hat.

I think it's quite the dumb hiring, but I don't know as much about the guy as they do apparently.

Wouldn't have been a bad hire 4 years ago, but he's consistently underachieved in a terrible conference since then. Not the best decision Tampa could have made.

Surprising. Even Chip Kelly would have been better lol.

I mean that would be nice, but it's his first NFL job and he wasn't that great at Rutgers to begin with.

Maybe, but I don't see it.

I think he will be fine, I just listened to his Introductory Press Conference. Seems like a good coach and is a very disciplined coach, that's what the Buccaneers needed.

The Bucs have a lot of thugs though.
I don't know how they'll like it. And the thugs are some of their better players too.

Sounding like a good coach and a very disciplined coach and actually being that are different things obviously.

He was at Rutgers, who says it won't carry over to the NFL? He brought that program from the bottom up, sure he doesn't have much NFL experience but it doesn't mean he'll be a bad coach. I know you are hoping for the worst (for the Bucs) but they will be back. At first I was iffy on the hire, I like it more now. Hope it works out for him and the Bucs. The more I get to know him, the more I like the hire.

Also, I'm not saying just because he turned Rutgers around means he'll turn the Bucs around. The NFL is a whole lot different but I think he will be able to. He's been on the radar for a bunch of different teams.

I think it's a bad hire, but apparently they know more than we do. But still, would have went in a different direction.

They have two, both play in the secondary and should be gone before training camp.

One (Talib) in jail and the other (T. Jackson) filled in for injuries.

I liked Raheem. A lot of people were calling for his head, which is just dumb. It's not his fault the offense was so bad, that's all on Olsen. When the defense is on the field 3/4 of a game, they're going to struggle.

Nevertheless, I wasn't a fan of Kelly either. Zero NFL experience isn't good, but when you got famous running a gimmick offense ... And grabbing recruits because of uniforms, you're not going to have success in the NFL.

Schiano came highly recommended by BB, so I'm on board.
