There had been rumors that the Denver Broncos were trying to trade quarterback Kyle Orton for a second-round pick but ProFootballWeekly.com now reports that the Broncs are backing off a trade of Orton.
"We hear the team prefers to have a veteran quarterback on the roster, especially if a lockout causes a long layoff," PFW reports.
The 28-year-old Orton, who has been in the league since 2005 when the Chicago Bears drafted him in the fourth round, played in 13 games for Denver last season, making 293 completions for 3,653 yards and 20 touchdowns.
