Carl Crawford got a lot of attention last offseason when he jumped from the Tampa Bay Rays to the Boston Red Sox, but he proved to be a real disappointment in his first season in New England, batting .255 with 11 homers in 130 games.
It looks like it's going to take a little longer for him to redeem himself. The Boston Globe reports that manager Bobby Valentine is thinking Crawford will be out for the first few weeks of the regular season as he recovers from left-wrist surgery he had Jan. 17.
"I wouldn't be surprised if Carl's a few weeks into the season before he's really ready,'' Valentine said, the Globe reports. "I wouldn't be surprised nor disappointed if that's what nature dictates is his healing process. When he's ready and he's healed, he is going to be a welcome addition to our team, whenever that is."
