Boozer to Bulls?

Another major multi-team trade might be looming in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls having discussed a deal that would be headlined by Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich, according to NBA front-office sources.

Sources stressed to ESPN.com that no deal was imminent Thursday and that both Portland and Utah are still evaluating multiple trade scenarios. But two sources with knowledge of the three-team proposal confirmed that there have been substantive talks regarding a trade that would land Boozer in Chicago, Hinrich in Portland and Tyrus Thomas in Utah.

A deal featuring those main components would deliver the elite low-post scorer that the Bulls have been chasing for years in Boozer and furnish Portland with a lead guard in Hinrich that the Blazers are known to rate highly as a potential backcourt mate for Brandon Roy. It's possible that other players would be added to balance out the transaction from a salary-cap perspective if the three teams elect to take these talks further.

Yet even if this deal collapses, sources say it is clear that the Jazz are becoming increasingly open to the possibility of moving Boozer now to increase their financial flexibility to re-sign restricted free agent Paul Millsap.

Despite fresh reports Thursday about the Blazers weighing whether to sign Millsap to an offer sheet, Hinrich is the player Portland prefers, according to one source close to the process, after the Blazers came so close last week to landing the versatile Hedo Turkoglu.

Boozer has only one season left at $12.7 million after declining the option in his contract to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. It's believed that the Jazz are determined to keep Millsap but are concerned about the luxury-tax consequences of signing him to a long-term deal.

I like Hinrich but I'd much rather have Millsap than Hinrich to be honest. My guess we'd be giving up Blake and maybe Outlaw, but the thing is Outlaw was going to move to back up PF this season and then we'd be stuck with no one at PF if we do trade him for Hinrich.

i havent looked at the rosters though. i mean i know the teams, but i havent been thiking of utah and chicago lol

maybe 4th best in the east, but i'd still take washington over them i think

Bulls would get a player who scores 22 a night and grabs 10-12 rebounds, but the cost of that is he also lets other PF/C get those same amounts. He would help a ton though. And Kirk in Portland I think would put them in the top 3 in the West. Bulls would likely get Stevie Blake or Travis Outlaw maybe a pick and cash too.

The Bulls post defense and defense in general is going to be extremely weak, but they definitely will score a lot if this deal happens.

i think Atlanta might be better than Washington, and the second of WAS/ATL would be fighting Philly and Chicago.

I forgot about Atlanta getting Bibby back. They are 4th, but the 5th,6th,7th is tough. Pistons are one of those with Washington Chicago and Miami. It's looking like Philly might not be getting Miller so they will likely be 8th IMO.

I wouldnt consider the pistons up there with Chicago or even Miami, especially if Chicago gets Boozer, but hey i'm all for supporting your team lol. Not sure Washington is up there either Arenas still has to make a good comeback.

The Bulls, Trail Blazers and Jazz have discussed three-way trade involving Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich, according to NBA front offices sources.

No deal is imminent, but sources claim that Boozer would land in Chicago, Hinrich would be sent to Portland and Utah would end up with Tyrus Thomas.

On Friday, one of the sources indicated that the Bulls would like to land Portland's Jerryd Bayless in the trade, as they will be giving up Hinrich and Thomas.

Chicago is concerned about the depth of their back court after losing Ben Gordon via free agency.

Other players that have been mentioned as possibilities in the three-team deal include Travis Outlaw, Steve Blake and Martell Webster.

"We're looking at all our options," Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said. "We're excited about all the possibilities and maybe they happen tomorrow, maybe they happen in two months, maybe they happen at the trade deadline."

The Bulls want Portland to add Bayless in the deal but they are reluctant. Sources say if Portland is not willing to give up Bayless they will replace Tyrus Thomas with Tim Thomas for Boozer heads up.. The Jazz may back off if that's the case.

I like the idea of Hinrich here but putting in Bayless really isn't worth it and I'm sure that's what caused us to back out. He'll be better than Hinrich in the future imo.

Nah, Kirk will make that team 10x better the Bayless ever will. Bayless and Roy don't fit eachother that well IMO. But I'm not saying that adding Bayless is good, cause Bayless will be really nice.

Yeah I agree that Hinrich is a better fit right now but I'm saying in the future Bayless will be the better player. I would have been 100% behind it if Blake (along with Webster maybe) was in the trade instead of Bayless. But I'm perfectly fine with Blake staying as our starter, he's very underrated and a solid starter imo.
