I don't know about all that. I would have been much more cautious.

All depends about the structure of the contract. It's easy to overreact to something that we don't even know the details of

Impossible to pass judgement until guaranteed numbers are out

Well not impossible to pass judgement, as it has already happened, but point remains.

It is a team friendly deal. If they are winning and happy with him, he will get paid like he should be. If he's not performing and they want to move on, they can do so without owing him anything. I don't see this as a bad deal for the Bengals.

The only main thing is that Kaepernick is at worst, a Top 15 QB. There are so many better QBs in the league than Dalton.

It's not like the Bengals have a lot of choices here. Maybe they could draft one but lots of uncertainty with that. This is an established player who has played good in the regular season and needs to take the next step, like the rest of the team. The Bengals as a team have not performed come playoff time, it hasn't been just the QB. The play-calling sucked, the offensive line got manhandled, the receivers dropped balls/ran wrong routes. Abandoned running game. He needs some help. I'm not going to blame just him for the Bengals lack of post season success. Everyone needs to step their game up and if they do, I bet he does as well.

Dalton just gets a bad rap man. He can be good.

You can't say he's all that different than a Matt Stafford, who, also makes a pretty penny ($40+ M guaranteed, $76.5 M over 5 years). Both put up big TDs, INTs, and yards. Different physically, same on field results. But no one really bats an eye when Stafford got his money.

I liked Andy when he played for TCU. He just needs to be more consistent, that's the main thing. In order to do so, I think the team needs to play more consistently around him. This deal doesn't bother me one bit. Now it's time to pay Green whatever amount, I don't even care.

This is the market price for any QB that is a quality starter. It's the reality of the NFL. If a starting QB gets extended, it will be for franchise dollars.

I'm looking forward to seeing Luck's extension.

Wilson will be interesting as well.
