I'm not really concerned if he stays. Holding out is just childish and dumb for any athlete to me.
:spideypalm:

Its so childish and stupid to get as much money as you can before something bad happens.

OMG.. You don't get it.

What happens after this 1 season? What if he fails? What if he gets a life long injury? He'll never see a higher payday.. SOOO.. Its only right that he holds out for whatever he can.

OMG. Fans are stupid.

You are missing the entire fucking point. Just stop posting with your ignorant bullshit if you are going to just skip over the entire point and call "fans" stupid. Coming from the biggest homer on SI with your irrelevant ass Jaguars.

LMFAO.. What does this post have to do with the thread? If you're going to post this.. then don't bother posting at all?

Its selfish of fans to say its childish for him to hold out because he can get 11 Million off of a franchise tag. It'd be better for him & YOUR STUPID FUCKING TEAM. To sign him to a longer deal so he doesn't add alot of money on the cap this year so yall could maybe sign a former bum off the Titans squad like yall do every year.

LOL @ Irrelevant.

1 year and Lion fans act like their team is the Pats or something. Hilarious.

Lets not forget whos team is probably the biggest losing team in the history of the NFL.

What.. Point?

You're saying its childish for him to hold out for a bigger contract in which the sport he plays is already dangerous because hes scheduled to make 11 Million this year on the franchise tag. Then you state because most consider your family upperclass because yall live well on 100K a year, that anybody can do it and 11 Million can last somebody a lifetime. Very unlikely.

This is why you're a dumbass.

A player should play just because hes getting 11 Million where he'd get way more in the open market if the Lions would just of let him become a free agent? So Fans are getting mad at Cliff because hes not happy with getting 11 Million.

How about this, we'll tell you that you could get 53 million, then say "Oh wait, nevermind.. Heres a 1 year contract just for 11 Million.

You wouldn't think about "well, what if I got injured? What if I had a bum year? Is 11 million really going to last me a lifetime? Will I be able to get everything I need in my lifetime with just 11 Million?"

But you don't think of it like that, because why? YOU'RE A FUCKING DUMBASS!

Enjoy your week off. Learn how to speak with calling someone a dumbass while you're at it.

But the point is, he is still going to become a rich man, and you fail to realize that we realize that he isn't as good as the contract he is going to ask for. So instead of just letting him walk, we will franchise him. If he wants a long term contract, take the 11 million, and show us that last season wasn't just a fluke and come out and earn a long term deal and quit fucking crying. This is football, like you said, but football shouldn't consist of players holding out like 12 years olds. Holding out only hurts his financial security in the long run.

Footballs the kind of game where every play could be your last though, so you could understand where you want that security going into a season.

I know that. But if you are going to get franchise, you really have no option. Just stop whining and go out and play, you are still getting paid. If you wanna get long term security, holding out is not the way to go about it.

We all know everything is about money these days. If a player knows he could make more and have more security as far as a job going forward, you can't really blame him for taking the higher amount and longer contract. I'm pretty sure if we were in the same situation, we'd do the same thing. But to the holding out part, I don't like that either, I hate it actually. Either way, even if the Lions can't hold onto him they'll move on. Avril is a good player, but they will move on and find the right replacement. I mean it won't be the end of the world if they lose him.

That's the thing, he isn't our entire franchise and isn't all that great that we can't afford to lose him. I don't want to lose him, but it makes no sense to blow a huge deal on him.

If I was in his shoes, and was franchised, I would be frustrated like he is. But holding out wouldn't even be a thought in my mind. It would just motivate me even more to go out there and earn a better deal.

Well, you have a point about going out and earning a better deal, but he just knows he can get better and he knows the Lions really can't afford to give him another long term contract at this point in time. They are more worried about Calvin Johnson and a few others right now, deservedly so. If he doesn't want to accept the franchise tag, just let him go. 11 Million for one year is a good chunk of money though, guess some things just aren't good enough for some people and it's easy for us to talk because we aren't in their shoes and I'm not even sure what he's looking for, money wise. I will probably need to read the article. lol

I know, but at the end of the day if he is franchised there is nothing he can do about it. So just move on, and play football instead of holding out.

I just dislike any player holding out really. He isn't the first to be franchised and wont be the last.
