Yep, why didn't he just do it himself?
That's what I don't get. I mean if he changed it a little I'd be okay with that but after all the changes he made it looks like I basically did nothing.

E-mail him back and ask him.

I'd be pretty pissed if that happened, don't care if I got paid to do it, you spent a lot of time working on their shit and then they just change it.

I've cooled off a little since last night but I'm still pretty mad.

definitely email him. It's almost as if he paid you to put some images of Morrow cut out on there, and then just did his own thing.

I emailed him back but I didn't say anything about him changing the whole thing. I decided with this being my first professional gig it was best not to burn any bridges. I got paid and something new to add to my resume (which as a college upperclassmen I need to do) so it's best I just keep it professional.

you can mention the changes in a professional way. tell him that you'd like to work with him in the future as opposed to burning bridges, but also tell him that as his hired graphic designer you are completely capable of making any changes they want to see in the work. That way it stays in your hands and you come off as wanting to do work together again. Also, almost never turn over the PSD when your getting paid like this. Keep the PSD until they are happy and then turn over a HQ .PNG image. They really can't buy the PSD off of you, unless you already agreed as part of the deal, you should really always try to keep the native file to yourself.

He told me I needed to send over the psd in case any of the information about the camp changed so I was kind of obligated.

Your not obligated to turn over the PSD unless you agreed prior to taking the job, like if thats part of the job description and you accept it, then you are obligated. Otherwise he is paying you for the work not the rights to it. In other words, he will most likely take your name off of it because it's actually his property now. Really as a designer it should stay in your hands and changes should be made through you. Just what ive learned from a few professors and friends who do this stuff for a living.

Well this was a learning experience then. As I said it's my first professional job so it's not a big deal. I'll know how I should go about all this shit now in the future.

Yeah dude, as a fellow designer I'm just trying to let you know your rights in this world. Its like any buyer/seller relationship. For example I work at Starbucks, people buy a drink, if they want anything changed in their drink I'm not just going to let them behind the counter to change whatever it is they want (even if they have the know-how to do it) they have to come through me because I'm providing the service to them as a customer.

That's a good way of putting it. Thanks for pointing this out though, will definitely help if I plan on doing more designing in the future.
