Post any news about him in here. Let the bidding begin.
More than a few St. Louis Cardinals fans who lined the World Series winner's parade route Sunday pleaded with GM John Mozeliak to re-sign first baseman Albert Pujols(notes), but the 31-year-old three-time National League MVP can do what he wants at this point.
The Cardinals have a four-day window to negotiate with its own free agents but Mozeliak doesn't expect a lot to get done in that time, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
"Internally, the Cardinals expect the first baseman to meet with other clubs and explore what free agency has to offer," the paper reports.
Pujols is keeping his mouth shut about what he's planning to do, the paper notes, though one suspects he'll want an offer that his higher than the one the Cards gave to him in the spring: nine years and almost $200 million.

Tex, A-Rod, and him would rotate at 1B/3B/DH.Is he gonna play shortstop?
The Marlins are scheduled to meet with free agent first baseman Albert Pujols in Miami within the next few days, possibly as soon as Saturday, a source tells Matthew Leach of MLB.com.
It's tough to gauge how serious the Marlins might be about signing Pujols, who figures to command a contract comfortably north of $200MM, but they have already been linked, to varying degrees, to a handful of free agents, such as Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, C.J. Wilson, Mark Buehrle and Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes, throughout the early goings of the offseason. It has been widely reported that the Marlins will increase their payroll substantially in 2012 as they head into a new ballpark at the site of now-demolished Orange Bowl.
It's not yet known whether the Cardinals and Pujols have had any discussions regarding a new contract, according to Leach.
If Crawford decides to hit like he did in 2010, our lineup>yoursTex, A-Rod, and him would rotate at 1B/3B/DH.
A-Rod is the only one who would be playing out of position at 1B as Tex and Albert have both played 3rd in the majors.
Would keep all three of them fresh for the whole season and could you imagine a lineup with those three in it? Throw in Cano and Granderson with Jeter leading off and you probably have the best lineup in the history of the game.

At the moment, you have no proven RF, no DH, and your catchers can't hit.If Crawford decides to hit like he did in 2010, our lineup>yours
Martin would catch over Montero unless he really works on his catching over the off-season. If we sign Pujols and Montero can't catch, he's probably trade bait for pitching because we can't send him back to the minors after how well he played for us last year, especially after seeing him already get frustrated at being in AAA too long.Jeter

Bleacher is right, would be best lineup ever
Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports that the Marlins are "serious" about signing free agent Albert Pujols and "intend to make a competitive offer."
Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post reported previously that the Marlins' bigger priorities were Jose Reyes and Yoenis Cespedes, with Pujols more of a longshot. Evidently, though, their courtship of the slugger is real. Pujols is in Miami Friday, having lunch with Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria and other front office executives while also taking in a tour of the team's new ballpark. Spencer adds that Loria, in particular, "covets" Pujols.
The Marlins have made "substantial offers" to both Albert Pujols and Jose Reyes, reports Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports and have also offered a contract to Mark Buehrle, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com (both Twitter links). The team met with Pujols today, Reyes on Wednesday and Buehrle on Tuesday but apparently already felt comfortable enough to make contract offers, though Heyman reports there is "nothing close" to a deal with any of the three.
Miami's aggressiveness is no surprise, given how the Marlins have been in hot pursuit of several top free agents already this offseason. It's unlikely that Pujols, Reyes or Buehrle would sign so early without fully exploring the market for their services, though a blow-away offer from the Marlins could change their minds.
The Marlins' payroll was expected to increase by as much as $35MM this winter, but signing Pujols, Reyes and Buehrle would add at least $60MM to the 2012 payroll. That's a big outlay for three players --- to put it in perspective, Cot's Baseball Contracts lists the entire Marlins payroll for 2011 as just under $57.7MM. Given how committed Jeffrey Loria is to put a competitive team into his new ballpark, we may have been conservative with our estimates about how much the Marlins are willing to spend this winter.
