We were talking about their offense. Their offense is dirt poor. The only way they've even come close to having an offense is because of players making miracles. They do not have enough offense to win this division, unless they win it by default because the Nats implode again.
But you never explained why their offense was dirt poor. All you did to back up your statement was make more statements that have NOTHING to do with the conversation. Their postseason run has NOTHING to do with the current lineup, a lineup that consists of a leadoff man in Granderson who had a .364 OBP, who can also hit for power. A lineup that has two power hitters at 3 and 4, both of which are capable of hitting 30 HRs if they're healthy. A lineup that is rounded off with Neil Walker who can hit 20 HRs, d'Arnaud who had 12 HRs in 67 games, a 23 year old outfielder who was the best bat in his draft and is now going to get a full season, or David Wright who hit .289 with a back injury.

See, you're just ignoring the facts and making statements. I have never ONCE disagreed with you that we had some miracles to make that World Series run, but that has nothing to do with THIS team NOW.

But whatever. I'm done with this argument because it's clearly a waste of my time. Does the Mets offense have weaknesses? Absolutely. Does that mean they're dirt poor? No. That was my whole point.

Do I really need to explain it word by word? I think most Mets fans generally accept that their offense isn't that great. It's a complete Achilles' heel.

Granderson is slap guy. Has a poor average. He had 3-4 years with a .364 OBP, every other year has been under .330 or thereabouts and he doesn't hit for average. Hitting and OBP are two totally different things. Yes, OBP is good, but if you don't have hitters to complement it, it's meaningless. Granderson can't hit for average. Even if you look at his OBP, it isn't that great for a leadoff guy compared to other players. His .364 OBP last season was basically his career highest. Doubt he repeats that again.

David Wright is always injured. Can't even stay on the field. He is a good hitter when he's healthy, but what protection does he have? Oh, and his power has considerably declined the past two years. I like this guy, but he's not the dependable Wright that he was years ago.

Cespedes is good, but he's basically the opposite of Granderson. Hits for average, but isn't that great with OBP. I don't think that's a bad thing, but just pointing it out. Cespedes is pretty good, but he's not someone I'd consider to carry the team. He's more athletic than he is a numbers guy, but point is, he isn't better than most other 3/4 hitters who hit for power AND get on on base.

d'Arnaud? Please come back to me when he gets 500 at-bats and hits above .275.

And then other than those four, I can't even name another player who is a good hitter. Please don't say Wilmer Flores. If you consider him an offensive player, that's pretty laughable. It's funny how everyone raved over a .263 hitter last year.

The Mets struggle to put .280 hitters on a team. That's dirt poor offense.

The thing I don't like about the Mets (and trust me, I was rooting for them to beat the Royals. I liked them), but the thing I don't like is how the media kept drinking the kool-aid. They talked about Cespedes being a king for the team, they talked about Flores being half decent, and Granderson gets a ton more credit than he deserved (like he always did with the Yankees, because the Grandy man can). Unless the Mets magically become the 2010 Giants, they're going nowhere. And I'd root for them if they were as amazing as the 2010 Giants, but keep drinking the kool-aid the media gives us. I don't see it happening, sorry.

I didn't say anything about Wilmer Flores. He's a utility guy, and that's all we need him to be. I never met anyone that "raved" over Wilmer Flores.

Look, I never said we were a great offense. We're not even a good offense. We're mediocre. But there's potential there with Conforto and possibly a healthy year out of d'Arnaud. That's really what I've been trying to say. Don't just say they're shit when there's a few young players there that could turn things around.

Less than mediocre. Like I said, you barely field two hitters over .280. If you can pull off a 2010 Giants team, you'd have the best team in MLB. It could happen, but I just think it's too much chance.

Mets needed to do more to improve their offense, even just a little. But their offense is probably one of the worst in the league. They will have to win games by smallball or generating runs because I wouldn't depend on hits too much with a roster of .240 to .260 hitters.

And about Flores- maybe not you, but tons of Mets fans rave about him.
