Ok yea it would take more salary but they could give up one of Ingram/Lonzo instead of both or whatever it is the Spurs would require now. And why would the Spurs let him leave for nothing when they can get some actual assets out of it? That would be gross mismanagement.

its Ingram+Kuzma+Deng+picks for Kawhi. That'd be the deal this offseason as well as next offseason. Maybe not all the picks aspect, and maybe you'd be able to swap someone out for Kuzma, but that'd be the deal. So are you really willing to risk someone like Philly trading for Kawhi and then him re-signing there (aka what happened with PG13) because you might be able to hold on to Kuzma in one year's time??

Is anybody really gonna offer more than the Lakers would this off-season given that Kawhi is adamant he will be a Laker next year? Cause I doubt it. I’m not saying they’ll be able to get Kawhi without giving up BI, but they won’t have to give up Kuz or Lonzo now. They probably settle on something like BI, Deng some picks and maybe Hart
