I look forward to what happens next

I never thought kyrie would stay long term and with rozier playing like this, why break the bank for kyrie?

Could give kyrie his excuse to leave

But on the other hand, ainge has a new big chip. Are the going to trade rozier? Trade brown? Wonder if they really regret the hayward signing now that rozier, tatum and brown have really make big strides

I just dont get what makes you think that

- has the second best coach in the league
- man of the team
- eastern conference
- boston franchise
- amazing future
- winning

What else do you need bro. Where else could he go and have all that

He wants to win rings as the leader of the team

Not waste his career on a dysfunctional Knicks team who are never relevant

They need to blow up the team

We keep talking about all these trades, but Derozan and Lowry should be the ones getting moved

I definitely disagree that Kyrie will voluntarily leave, but it does bring up the big question about fitting in everybody fiscally

The red numbers are just projections. Under these projections, Smart would receive a 4 year $36.96M deal, Rozier a $70.56M/4yr deal, and max deals for Kyrie and Jaylen. Hayward and Horford would accept their player options (in blue).

The challenge is that you're above the luxury tax in 2019 with just 7 guys named. That doesn't include the young bench players, nor the potential top pick coming in 2018 or 2019 with the Lakers/Kings 1st. You could be looking at $20M over the luxury tax, which then becomes extremely significant losses.

And yes, you don't have to re-sign Smart. But you're still going to be over with him off the roster, and if you can land him at that price he really is worth it. The real debate is re-signing Kyrie and/or Rozier. Unless Terry is horrendous next season, his value is going to be north of $15M/yr easily, and I don't think you can keep that. But towards Mexi's point, if you can keep Rozier at $70M/4yr, its a significant savings from Irving's max (which is LITERALLY double the price, at $145M/4yr)

Kyrie is without question the best player on this team right now. But you have a 21 year old Jaylen Brown, a 20 year old Jayson Tatum, a potential star at age 18/19 in upcoming drafts, plus Horford and Hayward too. It might be worth the lack of luxury tax payments and a stronger, deeper bench to trade Kyrie (or Hayward for that matter) for young controllable assets down the line.

It's a serious situation that Wyc Grousbeck is going to have to look at very soon

"Eastern Conference favourites" and the #1 seed are both struggling right now.
Thankfully, the clear-cut favorites and the actual favorites are surging right now.
Never in doubt!
