If you have an AD like prospect entering the draft, you finagle things to sign the kid who will have 9 years of team control (still 5 if RFA is removed)

Like the Lakers have $61M in practical cap space right now. Whats to not stop them for signing Ayton, Doncic, and Bagley to rookie maxes, and running Lonzo/Doncic/Ingram/Bagley/Ayton for the next 7+ years?

Boston got lucky by having Tatum and Jaylen on the same team, because Brooklyn was giving them great picks while being awful. OKC was horrendous and landed they KD+Russ+Harden. There would be so many more super teams created with this format

Sure in this current scenario the Lakers have a ton of cap space, but that’s not always going to be the case, it rewards teams for good planning. No there’s not going to be more super teams created because you still have to project how good the players actually will be and it gives the players the choice of which team they want to play for, sure some may choose a big market team provided they have the money. But no team that is currently competing for the title is going to find a way to shed $30M+ In salary just to have a chance at signing an elite prospect.

In this his scenario with the Lakers Lonzo and Ingram and Randle would all have a higher cap hit than they currently do, reducing their current cap space, then they’re competing with every other team with cap space to sign those guys

Its a ridiculous take
It’s not if you actually take a bit of time to actually think about it, cause I still haven’t seen anyone mention a smart reason why it’s not a good idea, feel free to give me one when you come up with it rather than just say it’s dumb

Free agency rewards teams for having good cap space. They don't need to throw the draft in to that too.

Wtf yes they would. Weve been talking about how unstoppable the Warriors are, and thats why half the league is tanking. Teams arent winning right now, so they are trying to mirror the Sixers/Thunder approach of being terrible for a few years, landing blue-chip prospects, and then competing when they develop.

Like you seriously dont get it, so you? When was the last time a big name free agent signed in Orlando? Sacramento? Memphis? Minnesota? The NBA is extremely marketable, and want to go to larger markets to be more brand visible. Hell thats the only reason why theres a possibility Kyrie might leave Boston, to go play in NYC...

Like give me an actual reason to why any rookie right now would choose to play in Sacramento over Dallas.
