Because reporters and analysts are actually informed and educated. Saying the Pels made a mistake passing on the Lakers package is laughable as well. The Lakers are absolutely desperate for AD, the Pelicans could call them in early June and the Lakers would move everything that theyve offered without blinking.

Celtics will be aggressive this summer for AD. Probably without Tatum, but still they will make a competitive offer. 
 
Knicks may not get #1, pretty unlikely they do. But they can still package whatever it is to the Pels.
 
Whoever gets #1 could offer that to the Pels.
 
The Lakers will still offer to compete with the other offers.

Kanter should be expiring. Frank, Knox a top 3 pick. Maybe the Pels are high on Ja. There are loads of options out there and I am not positive that Lakers offer is the best out there. And appears the Pels and most other people think so too.
 
Just a smart move to wait and see ALL the offers before making a move. Rather than looking at the 4 offers the Lakers made.
