I wouldnt be surprised in the slightest if Kyrie sets Ainge an ultimatum: Trade for AD or he walks. They cant trade for AD till Kyrie signs his new deal, but you can agree to terms if Kyrie announces hes testing FA, and then sign Irving to his new deal.

Ultimately, Jaylen and Tatum are the contingency plan. If Kyrie walks, you keep the duo as the face of the Celtics future. If Ky takes a 4-5yr extension, you need to contend NOW. Hell keep as many pieces as possible (and Ill outline the financial details later because it will be tough)

theyd have to trade for kyrie on his new contract, which will be at a higher salary than AD

essentially theyd have to trade more and it would force kyrie into a 4 yr deal not a 5
