they just named Danny ferry GM thoughnolafan33 said:Here's another interesting scenario. I've seen it put at about an 85% chance that AD is a Celtic next year. The framework is already agreed upon and it's a good one, with no assurances necessary from AD, but I've been saying that for weeks. That will be a move that will set the course of the Pelicans for the next decade, perhaps even longer. The Pelicans top candidate for GM is Danny Ainge's right hand man, Mike Zarren. How do you hire him and have his first task be negotiating with his former boss and friend? But do you pass on a long term guy because of issues in his first week? I think the pros outweigh the cons, but there are definitely some cons there.
- Zarren won't try to screw Ainge. The Pels arguably have the leverage in a situation with multiple bidders. Will Zarren ask Ainge for what's reasonable or squeeze him for everything he knows he'll give up?
- Zarren will be biased towards the Boston package. This probably only matters if someone else is offering a non Zion top 3 pick, but I assume Zarren would give the benefit of the doubt to the Boston assets he knows well. But it's certainly possible that he could overvalue the Boston assets, it's widely known that humans overvalue their possessions. Isn't it possible that Zarren overvalues some Boston assets because he knows them so well. He doesn't just know Marcus Smart the player. He knows Marcus Smart the man, and while that can be useful, it could also make a decision emotional, rather than just logical.
I know that's a long reply, but I find it fascinating.
Everything Ive heard says theyll start completely fresh. Ferry may not even want to be a GM anymore, hes been consulting for years.Mexi said:they just named Danny ferry GM though
Edit: oh interim. Interesting though. I figure he'll be there a while?
If Zarren is named the GM of the Pelicans, Anthony Davis will get traded to Boston. Zarren was the favorite to be the Sixers GM before he took himself out of consideration and that's a significantly more appealing franchise to run. He'd only go to New Orleans because he would know some of his players already.nolafan33 said:Here's another interesting scenario. it got gilded too lmaoMexi said:"Now over on Celtics reddit I worked up a trade that worked financially that didn't impose on anything from Free Agency (like Rozier wanting to S&T to the Pels for instance) and that did not include Tatum"
Lmao
no zarren for younolafan33 said:We can just stop talking about an AD to Boston deal without Tatum being involved. Its a waste of time. Tatum, Smart, Williams, and the Memphis pick are already agreed upon.

Jaylen Brown makes the most sense to be dealt and you're not even saying he's moving? smhnolafan33 said:We can just stop talking about an AD to Boston deal without Tatum being involved. Its a waste of time. Tatum, Smart, Williams, and the Memphis pick are already agreed upon.
he clearly wants tatum. better for boston. JB is closer to mj anywaysbosoxlover12 said:Jaylen Brown makes the most sense to be dealt and you're not even saying he's moving? smh
I dont know what the deal with Brown is. He may have been discussed and he may not have been discussed. No clue. I just know what theyve already agreed on without needing assurances from AD. They probably have discussed packages in the event AD gives some sort of assurance you Boston, but I havent heard anything about that so I cant speak on it.bosoxlover12 said:Jaylen Brown makes the most sense to be dealt and you're not even saying he's moving? smh
