Latest on AD trade:

Pelicans talking to multiple teams, but it will be the Knicks or Celtics. Deal will not be finalized until late May to early June. Draft lottery is in mid May so thats your timeline there.

If the Knicks get the #1 pick, they can put together a package that is equal to or even better than the Celtics best package. What they acquired from Dallas is enticing, but the things the Knicks already had is the real selling point. If they get the 2nd or 3rd pick, it could compete with the Celtics if they dont offer up everything the Pels want. Which is Tatum, Brown, Smart, and 3-4 picks. Tatum is in the deal regardless of several outcomes that could play themselves out.

The only way the Lakers can steal Davis is if they get players or picks the Pelicans actually like. There is not a single piece from the Lakers that the Pelicans love. Every piece the Lakers could include is what the Pelicans are calling a tier 3 or tier 4 piece. The Pelicans view Tatum and the Knicks pick as high tier 2 pieces. The source says they would get that and tier 3/4 pieces from the Knicks and Celtics, which is why the Lakers arent in the running. But they have discussed things that the Pelicans value highly and if the Lakers can get that, then they have a shot. But, the things the Pelicans have told the Lakers they like is kind of a pipe dream, so it will be Knicks or Lakers.

Lastly, they prefer Boston to New York, but they prefer the Knicks pick if it lands at #1, if that makes sense. If thats the route they go, its more likely they will move Jrue Holiday and whatever junk they have left. Theyve already started gauging the interest in Jrue around the league. They view the Knicks package as starting over.

Nola where did you hear all that a Pelicans blog? I heard yesterday they really like Ball and view him as a potential star. Plus he'd fit well at pg next to Jrue at sg.

Can you already bet on the Knicks winning the East in 2020? Could be low risk, high reward

I just really don't think NY will trade a #1 pick. But who knows.

Its from a guy that has had legitimate sources inside the Pelicans organization for years. Hes active on two Pelican forums and on Twitter. Ive said it in the past but I would believe what he says involving the Pelicans over anyone. There are things that the national media are just starting to talk about that hes been talking about for months.

I saw what you said about the Knicks pick, and he said they would move that pick for AD in a second. None of these stars, AD, Kyrie, Durant, etc want to play with 22 year olds, much less 19 year olds and the Knicks know that.

I feel everyone would want to play with Zion. The others if they don't get #1 not so much.

If Kyrie stays in Boston and if they get AD, I can see AD staying long term. Seems like some big IFs though.

Feels like the Knicks and the Celtics have become less likely landing spots for AD over the last 24 hours. Every time Kyrie opens his mouth it sounds more and more like he's leaving, which takes Tatum off the table in a Davis trade, and the Knicks are going all in on free agency. I guess if the pick lands at #1 they could swing it for AD, but that's gonna take up some of their Kyrie/Durant cap space. Feel like the Pelicans are losing leverage by the second.
