Most people, and I'm not sure if you're in this camp, seem to think that recent success has a positice effect on future outcomes but it doesn't. Past success is an indication of the ability or talent of the individual or a team. The ability is the predictor of success and more recent success doesn't make it any more/less likely. 
 
And you're still talking about momentum like it is a thing and not just an observation
