Halos bring in Chris Young and Chris Carter. Angels OF is pretty damn legit.
They still need pitching if they even consider competing. We still don't know how effective Ohtani is until we see him on the field.

Caught this on the Twitter machine and found it interesting:

Interesting quotes out of Boston camp from team owner re Sox offense last yr, where Chili was hitting coach: "We would've had significant power last yr if we had a diff approach..I don't think we were nearly aggressive enough."

Pace of play initiative was agreed on by players and management.  6 non-change visits to the mound per game, including those by catchers and infielders.  Going to the mound to clean one's spikes does not count as a visit.
An interesting idea was proposed on MLB Network -- how about if the umpire signals a homer, the batter and any runners on just go to the dugout, rather than touching all the bases?

Red Sox are closing in on a deal to sign JD Martinez according to sources. Let's hope we don't overpay.

Done deal.  5/$110MM.  Heavily front-loaded.

no way can they take away touching the bases after a homer.

one thing i would be in favor of is the intentional walk. if you are walking them, just award the base.

I think they implemented this mid-year anyway, didn't they?

I noticed that.  Until they get their stadium issue straightened out, they will have a huge problem.

Now the chips are starting to fall, lol:

-Francisco Liriano signs with Tigers
-Erick Aybar signs with Twins
-Michael Saunders signs with Royals

Still about 60 FAs still out there. Who the hell knows where Jake the Snake ends up.

Arrieta needs to look for a one year deal in a pitcher friendly park so he can rebuild his value. Could San Fran still be looking for a rotation piece? Too bad Atlanta isnt in a place to compete this year. It's the AL, but the Twins are in need of rotation help and might be willing to go one year with Arrieta

Apparently he's balking at the idea of joining Phils on a short term deal.

I wouldnt do that if I were him. I'd want a pitcher-friendly ballpark to make 15 starts in, not that bandbox
