Your country's obsession with national pride, the military, the flag and your anthem is unhealthy as it is.
There's a fine line between patriotism and nationalism, when you're forcing someone to sing an anthem they don't believe in, you might as well be crossing that line.

We've been obsessed with all of that ever since we won the Revolutionary War. Being patriotic is just part of the culture.
 
What's also part of the culture is being ignorant. Like I said before, I disagree with protests on 9/11 but at the same time I won't call anybody names and make dehumanizing remarks toward them because they want to speak out on the history of people being dehumanized in this country. They're basically saying "I want everyone to be equal and I don't want anyone to be killed unnecessarily" and people are like "Naw FUCK THAT, FUCK YOU, PIECE OF SHIT".
 
America is great but it's not perfect. The people who are against the protests are keeping it from being that way. Look at it like a team winning by 20 points but the coach still chews players out in the film room the next day because there's always room for improvement. The great thing about America is that people can do what they need to do in order to bring good change. Going against the protests is ironically anti-American because peaceful protests under the 1st amendment is what we stand for. Calling these guys names and being angry is the same line of thinking that gets people in other countries killed for speaking out on their problems.
