The Indians announcer had no clue who Josh Rutledge was. Someone hit a grounder to him, the announcer said it was Shaw, quickly realized it wasn't, and then legit said out loud, "who is that?", had to wait for the graphics department to put up the name to find out.
He's another player that has a lot of upside.  I like Rutledge.  I think he'd be sensational if he were starting, but we just have no room for him to start right now.

^He's a dime a dozen player imo.

Farrell is batting jbj in the sixth hole today and Shaw at 7 so he has protection today. Another reason why jbj is better off at the 9 spot rather than 7 as he had Betts as protection. Now Vazquez bats behind Shaw, but whatever.

The guy rakes no matter where you put him.

Yeah but if he's batting seventh, teams will just keep walking him to get to Vazquez.

Zimmermann hurt his groin and is probably gonna go on the DL.

This rotation is so bad.

Noah back in that early conversation for the Cy Young

11 ks in 7 innings
Over half his pitches were 97mph or greater
In exclusive club with Kershaw, Ryan, and Jose Fernandez to record double digit Ks and not allow a walk in consecutive games

Witnessing the birth of an ace

Vazquez is not the best hitter, but he isn't exactly an automatic out either.

I'm bandwagoning the O's for the rest of the year. A team that has no pitching, a few holes in the lineup, but still finds ways to win. Buck has still got it.

So you want teams walking Jbj and not utilizing his bat so we can count on a .240 hitter? I'll pass. Either bat him sixth with Shaw behind him or ninth with Betts behind him.

Or bat him fifth considering he's swinging a better bat than Hanley.

Just when they start winning a little bit their best pitcher so far this year gets hurt.. I agree though, this starting rotation is really bad

Outside of Verlander and some flashes from Fulmer they really have nothing. Sanchez and Pelfrey are washed, Norris has been bad at AAA, and Boyd/Farmer aren't MLB rotation guys. Shane Greene might end up being alright, but it seems like he's hurt all the time.

Royals have popped up as a potential suitor for Jay Bruce at the deadline.

Didn't realize how bad Jay Bruce had been the last two years.

His power comes in spurts. He's above average in the field. I'd like to have him 6th in a lineup like the Royals. The Reds have shown they can be taken to the woodshed on the trade market.

I didn't say that, nor did I imply it.  I was only pointing out that Vazquez is not an awful hitter.  This lineup 1 through 9 is lethal.  The rotation, not so much.

Personally, I like him 9th.  I wouldn't put him in front of Shaw because that's two lefties in a row.  Fifth wouldn't work if he's behind Ortiz (another lefty).  Better to keep right/left/right matchups, even if they have little factor.

I'd even try him in the two hole. He's sure as shit going to have protection with Bogaerts. Pedroia is having a renaissance year, so he can bat fifth and drop hanley to 7th.

Doubt we ever try this though. I still want a left fielder that can fill the spot until benintendi is ready. I don't like Swihart.

And yes I'm aware Hanley is batting over .300, I still feel he's the weakest of the bunch (thats no knock on hanley thi)

O's traded Brian Matusz to Braves for RHP Brandon Barker and LHP Trevor Belicek. The Braves the promptly DFA'd Matusz. I have no words.
