Its a win-win move
The point of prospects isnt always to use them, but to trade them

They got one solid 2b for 2 years and yes gave up a good prospect, but still have plenty of depth

I love it. I love our farm

They traded Jose De Leon for 2 years of Forsythe ... lol

Excited to see him pitch in Tampa this year

The trade market has been crazy high lately, but damn trading a guy who might be a future ace for Forsythe is a serious stretch. Sure he struggled in a few starts with LA last year but he's crazy young and put up monster numbers in a hitters friendly PCL. I get the win now for the Dodgers, but don't think this was really a good way to go about it.

Twins missed out here, would have liked to see them land some pitching.

They traded a top 30 prospect in the entire league for a guy who isn't even a top 10 2nd baseman in the league

Apparently Forsythe isn't the forgettable middle infielder he was in San Diego anymore.

I had no idea

2015-2016 hes 8th in war

It may seem like an overpay on paper but remember, pretty much all trades are. Look at the adam eaton trade for example

De leon is also like 7th or 8th on the depth chart for the dodgers
And dont know how else the dodgers could improve their 2b search
The difference between dozier and forsythe is minimal. And to get dozier it was going to cost a lot more than 1 prospect

And again, the dodgers used chase utley last year. This is a huge improvement

All good trades aren't overpay haha, that's what makes it a good trade.

Forsythe is good and is a major upgrade
JDL is a good prospect but the Dodgers FO just didn't like him. Who knows why. But he really only got starts in September unlike urias for example who they used in june til the end

Hes also 25 and barely made his debut. Its ok that they traded him. Guys relax lol. Dont you worry we have plenty other arms in the farm

Dodgers are going to run away with the west. NLW title #5 in a row...
Hopefully this is the team to make the WS.
Dodgers are good

Selling low on someone because it's a position of strength, and you need something else isn't very smart or analytical. It's reactionary. They couldn't get Dozier and panicked is what this looks like to me

No. They didn't want to include another top prospect for dozier

Last 5 years
Mark ellis
Mark ellis
Dee gordon
Howie kendrick
Chase utley

If he has the same WAR as 2016 he would be our best 2b since orlando hudson in 09
If he repeats 2015 he would be our best since davey lopes in 1975

So yeah I'm ok with the trade. Good luck in Tampa JDL. Hopefully you stay healthy and limit homers

I don't think it was selling low. Forsythe was a 4 win player in 2015 and 3 wins in 2016. He's a solid player traded for an unproven pitcher. Dodgers still have a ton of pitching depth anyways.

Cubs are still the team to beat. Best in the nl
But the Dodgers are close. And are better than the team that took the cubs to 6 games

Im excited

He's a solid player, above average. To give up a prospect that highly touted/rated, I would need better, even if I have depth there.

Fangraphs had a post that said hes pretty much dozier
Lower acquisition cost

Look, the cubs gave up gleybar torres to rent chapman. But they won it all so we dont mention it

Sometimes yeah you do trade depth for need
