I understand the idea of resting key players, but fans pay for the product and don't get the product. That's shitty. There's no other way to say it.

Clippers cavs tickets were well over 100 dollars for nosebleeds, as im sure most cavs road games are

And bron, kyrie and love sit? Ouch

Thats my only issue with guys resting. We at home could change the channel or simply not watch, but the fans at the game are the true ones who suffer

Just sucks, even for a clipper game.
Love just returned from an injury, and Kyrie hurt his knee the previous game.

I also don't know why the league decided to freak out on the Cavs for this considering the Spurs have been doing it for a decade

Van Gundy tried to argue before the broadcast that the Cavs resting players doesn't work because they have injuries.

That's fine. If youre injured obviously its fine

But whats lebrons excuse

Warriors last week too.

Again. I dont care if teams rest guys. Thw data is there. Rest is good. I just wish ticket prices didn't get higher for marquee teams and stars becausw if they dont play, the fans dont get what they pay for

Season needs to be shorter. Bottom line. Maybe just make it 3 games per week maximum or something

But obviously money makes the world go round so that won't happen...

Who is protecting me when the Knicks & Lakers are constantly put on national TV?

And if the NBA keeps scheduling first halves or second halves of back to backs for good teams on national TV, they run this risk. Don't make those games national TV games.

A. Dont raise prices for these big games

B. Dont DNP stars if theyre healthy

C. Rest guys by playing them less minutes during the season. Take guys out of blowouts, designate certain games where they simply play limited minutes like an embiid plan

Just a few potential fixes. We'll see what adam silver does. Its tough man. I vote option A and a little of C
Even with less preseason games and less b2b and less 4/5 nights. Players will still rest

I wish we could take out about 20 games.
You realize that the higher prices are driven by the secondary market and not the teams, right? Option A would be impossible to enforce, it's basic supply and demand

As for option C, you can't actually rest by playing fewer minutes, it doesn't allow your body to recover

Many teams charge more depending on who the opponent is. The secondary market exaggerates it, but teams definitely do upcharge on the bigger games directly.

Huh, didn't know that. Regardless it would still be represented in the secondary market, where I'm assuming many of these fans are purchasing their tickets

What's he going to do?

The only option would get rid of some games altogether, which can't and wont happen because there is too much money to be made, and too much money already invested in the TV deals. No chance the owners agree to it, and even the players wouldn't agree to it because that's their money too.

Can't eliminate back to backs without shedding some games.

and you can't force teams to play certain players, that would open up a huge can of worms.

I believe they've discussed starting the season a few weeks earlier to help reduce the number of back to backs in scheduling

If they stretch the season out even longer, teams are still going to rest guys, especially the great teams who are playing nearly 100 games a year.
