I don't think that will hurt his chances as much as the sports forum thinks it will.  Lebron won it twice with the Heat.
 
Durant's numbers so far this season are even better than his MVP numbers from a few years ago.  One might even say it's more impressive that he's keeping up this pace on a team with two other offensive superstars.

Yeah, but he should've won in 2011 too. There was anti-LeBron sentiment among the media that probably cost him that one.

I actually thought Durant, who I believe was playing without Westbrook for at least half the year and put up better numbers than LeBron, deserved that last one

He only really scored a little more than him. LeBron's percentages were still ridiculous and virtually the same from the year before.
And Wade was missing almost as many games as RW.
