His fault for falling in love with the three

Used to be an animal inside getting offensive rebounds , blocks . Now its neither here or there

This is year 5 of their rebuild and they havent gained any ground

I guess the most irrelevant team is actually the nets. Really wish they could keep their pick this year

Phoenix is right there with them.

Nets take the cake, though. They're not even really an NBA team right now, and have no hope for at least two more years.

phoenix has good pieces if they want to move guys

Tyson, bledsoe, knight, dudley, tucker

Okc were cheap af and now theyre regretting it

Should have kept the 3 and traded ibaka

Steph/Klay/Dray
Vs
Russ/Harden/KD for years

Would have been crazy , plus those spurs from 12-14, the west would have been an absolute dog fight
The issue wasn't being "cheap af" -- it's the repeaters tax they would have had to pay was thought to be really expensive.

The Known Facts:
The cap during the 2011-12 season was to remain static for the next season, at $58,044,000. The contracts already given to Durant and Westbrook, plus what they wanted to give to Ibaka, and plus what Harden got in his max, would have produced a combined salary of $58,577,783. Between four players. Add on Perk's $8.7m, Thabo and Collison's existing $6.5m combined, and you have a lot of money tied up, with a good amount of roster spaces open that can only be filled by the league minimum salaries (aka a really inferior bench)

Luxury Tax:
This issue that resulted in the trading of Harden is 100% resulting from the scare of the Luxury Repeaters Tax. When you are first over the hard cap, the team pays $1 for every dollar over. $10m over is $10m paid, for the first year. That's not why Clay Bennett was scared. The next season, if still over, they pay the Non-Repeater's tax, ranging from rates of $1.5 to $3.75 (or even higher if like $30m over the HC but that's just not applicable here). So now $10m over is now $25m paid. If you're over again for the next season, it becomes a Repeater's tax, and the rates jump a whole dollar from the non-repeater's. $10m is now $35m, and if you're exactly $10m over for three straight seasons you've just paid $70,000,000 in luxury taxes.

What Nobody Could Have Predicted:
With salaries that rise 4.5% every season among the "Core Four", and are already as it is at the salary cap line from just four players, it was going to be very evident that the franchise was going to be paying the Repeater's tax very soon with the league salary cap at $58m. But nobody saw the massive spikes that the cap endured. The 2014-15 season was going to be extremely costly for the Thunder, and Bennett did wisely project ahead rather than just do what was best right now. But had he known the cap would be $5m higher this season and $7m higher than that for the next, things would have changed. Those luxury taxes around $70m -- cut that down to under $20m. Hell, when Durant is a free agent in 2016-17, you can still afford him with the cap on his super max when you know the cap jumps $20m.

TL:DR;
Basically if Clay Bennett knew the cap jumps would occur, he would have kept all four guys without question.

Also, the whole "Amnesty Perkins" ordeal is just dumb because all the amnesty did was cut the guy and not have it count against the salary cap. Bennett still had to pay him, and that itself is kinda like a tax (paying $8-9m for someone to not play for you?)

Cancelling the swap sets such an awful precedent for teams to then commit awful trades involving futures -- because the commish will just bail you out!
