Him being in the paint when a shot goes up is rebound hunting?
 
And yet all the videos of James Harden getting exposed on defense are just an overplayed meme?

He was in the paint before the shot went up. When you're a guard, usually your assignment is a little further away from the paint, and if he gets open off an offensive rebound, that's his fault.

I say its a meme because plenty of guys play matador defense but only James for killed.

That's like saying "Shaq wasn't a great shooter, but no one was except for like 4 guys". The reason James got killed for it is because it became an every game thing. He gave ZERO effort on that end. I have no doubt that he could be a good defender if he took pride in it, but he just doesn't care. He's been better this year, just like he was in 14-15, but he's still far from a guy I would give any credit to on that end.

This. The main reason they were unwatchable and a mess is because harden came into training camp completely out of shape and refused to buy into what McHale wanted to do.
