Don't let Burfict's history convince you that that boom boom play where he managed to avoid helmet to helmet contact was intentional. There's just no way he actively meant to graze Brown like that. It looked to me like he attempted to veer and avoid the contact and that definitely should not have been flagged.

You can't excuse an obvious penalty just because he may or may not have actually meant to decapitate him.

Obvious penalty? Nah. Completely incidental and almost completely avoided by the defensive player. It's up to the refs' prerogative at that point, and they chose to overreact to what happened as opposed to what caused it, which was the speed of the players headed directly at each other. Burfict did a wonderful job avoiding helmet to helmet and for that he should be commended. It's unfortunate that Brown ended up hurt but it could have been much, much worse.

Cincinnati got screwed at the end, there. No question about it.

You do realize that the rule isn't helmet to helmet? It's hitting a defenseless receiver in the head, period. Burfict flew in and hit him in the head with his shoulder, which you can't do. It was the correct call.

Burfict may have done a "wonderful" job avoiding the helmet to helmet, but he still nearly severed his head with his shoulder. It doesn't matter whether it was Burfict or fuckin Tim Tebow, that's a penalty every time.

It's a shame that Marvin Lewis will get yet another pass thanks to the Dalton injury.

He may actually deserve the free pass this season, but he probably should have been canned 4 or 5 years ago.

Look, Pittsburgh is better next week than Cincinnati would have been next week, assuming that Ben, Brown, and De all play. Today, Cincinnati was better, but thankfully the team that's better on more days of the season won tonight.

Does that even make sense?

I've called for Lewis to be FIRED several years ago and some people said I was crazy and always came up with some other lame excuse as to why he should stay. Marvin Lewis has zero control of this team and he's been given like 13 years now and still doesn't have a playoff win. I would be shocked if Brown fired him after winning the division and winning 12 games, although he should. Here we let Zimmer walk to have a team who time and time again just beat themselves because of poor coaching.

Everyone will talk about how dirty the Bengals played, mostly because of one or two thugs, but the Steelers weren't much better. Unfortunately the Bengals just beat themselves and handed the game to the Steelers because players aren't held accountable for their actions. Here we've had one of the most talented rosters in the entire league and have 0 playoff wins to show for it. We continually lose assistant coaches every year and yet the most important position stays the same, along with the same results.

Here's Burfict gunning for Matt Barkley's knee back in high school.  I believe both were USC commits at the time.

Dude, in what universe did he "almost completely avoid" hitting Brown?

That was about as intentional as it could get.

It's actually completely irrelevant which of the two is better next week

If Cincinnati won, they would have gone to New England, and yeah probably lost. KC would have given Denver a really tough time

Now Pittsburgh goes to Denver, where Roethlisberger may not be able to throw the ball 30 yards due to a shoulder injury, and AB might not be able to play due to concussion. Denver is going to walk into the AFCCG, and probably the Super Bowl now

I'm more concerned with Peyton plant foot than his arm. Better yet i am more concerned with our dropped catches lol.

How the hell was Cincinnati better? It was 15-0 before Roethlisberger got hurt

Vikings facing the hottest team in the league today, featuring the QB he absolutely despises. We could be in for more bware hot takes.
