This isn't new news, in the slightest bit
 
 
The Celtics offer was hardly a low-balling deal. It involved 3-4 first round picks (including this Brooklyn 2016 1st), solid replacement players (Sully, Turner), a great valued Amir Johnson ($12M non guaranteed next year), and former 1st rounders like Young and Hunter that are cheap and have solid upsides. It's hardly an amazing deal, but for a rebuilding team that's not too bad at all.
 
It just makes no sense from Cleveland's perspective to do the deal. Cleveland is thinking of moving Love because he isn't good enough, yet he'd be the best player on the Celtics. Celtics really wanted Love, and Cleveland was really interested in moving him. That's why the 3 team NYK-BOS-CLE would have been a great idea; it allows the Knicks to rebuild, the Cavs to get better, and the Celtics to get their guy in KLove. But Melo didn't want to go to Cleveland (not saying he doesn't want to play with lebron tho), so he didnt waive his ntc.
