But in all honesty, this was their fault from Day 1


When the trade happened, the immediate reaction was that these late 1sts were going to be very valuable. The Nets would compete for a title with their new veterans, so the first pick we would receive would not be overly valuable, but the '16-'18 1sts would be quite good picks.

Now, instead of Brooklyn being a 2 seed that year, they were like a 7-8 seed, and just not that good. KG was bad, Pierce wasn't overly special. Deron Williams lost a step, Joe wasn't nearly as efficient, and Brook got injured. They gambled 3 years of their future away in order to win a title, and it backfired significantly. They knew they'd have nothing in these years
