The coach and GM thing? I do.

Players? Nah

Players care about money and playing time, and they only care about playing time because that means more money.

Quick question:

How responsible for the Warriors' success is Steve Kerr?

In his favor:

1. Starting Green in Barnes and relegating Iggy and Lee to the bench, and I haven't even seen Lee on the floor in the playoffs yet.
2. Not over-coaching and simply performing damage control

Not in his favor:

1. Bogut and Curry actually being healthy for most of a full season--Jackson never had that.
2. Durant, Dwight, Griffin, Kawhi, and other great players throughout the West missing significant time this season.
3. Nearly every other West playoff team performed some sort of trade that required time to jel.

Now, none of these things are Kerr's fault, but they absolutely attributed to the Warriors running away with the West. Head to head matchups were affected, as were losses to bad teams for these other West teams dealing with injuries or acquisitions.

My main question is this--some people are claiming he deserved coach of the year. I vehemently disagree and don't think he even deserves to be in the discussion. Steve Kerr walked into a perfect situation everything that could have gone wrong didn't go wrong. What do the rest of you think?

They are significantly better than last year, and all they really did was change coaches.

i was going to bring up kerrs staff. that may have a lot to do with his success too. he just seems like he has a passive personality. too easy going to be the coach that got this much out of his team. not taking anything away, because he has been good. but im just not 100% sold on him being the sole reason they've played this well.

Like I said, injuries decimating other teams played a factor

Have you looked at how historic their season actually is?

Their point differential is almost double what the 2nd highest point differential is in the league. They laid waste to the entire league, it wasn't because of injuries to other teams. On average they beat teams by double digits. That's insane.

edit: Well it's not double, I made a mistake, but it's still over 3 points higher than the 2nd highest.

That being said, the Hawks didn't do much more either. Does a healthy Horford alone account for 22 more wins?

Golden State was already a 51 win team.

I wasn't debating that he deserved it more, I was arguing that he deserved credit for their rise to dominance

If other teams had been healthy, they'd have had 20ish losses

Yea, again, they had a point differential of over 10. The Hawks had only 7 less losses with a 5.4 diff. That's something you can look at and question but not a dominant team like Golden State. Even with injuries the conference is tough as fuck
