Just around the corner, go ahead and post any smaller off-season related stuff here.

Draft stuff goes in draft thread though, and post big news in its own thread please :)

Is there is certain time that has to be done by before we get stuck with the cap hold?

I'm also under the assumption that if Josh Smith gets paid a solid contract this off-season, we will get money knocked off his stretch provision.

idk if there is a time limit on renouncing his rights.

we still owe josh the money, it just lowers his cap hold i believe so it still helps the team.

We are slated to have like 20 million right after Monroe is renounced?

That's plenty for a good SF and some depth.

My wishlist at SF would be:
1. Tobias Harris
2. Khris Middleton
3. Demarre Carroll

I think you can probably get Khris cheaper than Carroll, which is why I would put him higher. I'm curious to how willing Milwaukee would be to match a contract for Middleton.

If we can't land any of them, which is probably going to be the case, just get whatever shooters are available and let our draft pick start at the 3.

they supposedly made the trade to have space to sign khris and bring more pieces in

Yea tell me about it.

I want the Knicks to draft Mudiay. And then sign Tobias Harris and maybe Monroe. Mudiay-Hardaway Jr-Harris-Melo-Monroe

At least its better than this past year lol.

So if the Pistons don't renounce him, his cap hold will remain with us for the entire season next year?

Which is stupid; he should be looking for a 3 year deal, not a 2 year deal. I posted the following on Reddit earlier about this

Per the CBA, the max contract value for players with 6 or less years of experience is 25% of the cap, and 7-9 years is 30%.
The projected cap #s for the next 3 years are $67.1M, $89M, and $108M.
  • If he signed the 5 year max this year, he'd make $16.78M annually.
  • If he signed a max after taking a 1 year deal, he'd make $22.25M annually
  • If he signed a max after taking a 2 year deal, he'd make $27M annually
But if he wanted to sign a 3 year deal this offseason, he'd play 7 seasons, and therefore get 30% of the cap in a max. I'd bet the cap rises from that $108M number, but even if it stayed the same, he'd make $32.4M, which is $5M added due to the extra year in the league.
The cap would have to drop from $108M to less than $90M in 4 years for Butler to make less money from taking a 3 year deal now rather than a 2 year deal.

The Golden State Warriors and David Lee's camp have decided to work together on finding a trade partner this offseason.

Lee lost his starting job to Draymond Green and eventually was out of the Warriors' rotation.

Lee ended up playing important minutes in The Finals when the Warriors went smaller to unlock the Cleveland Cavaliers' defense.

The Warriors are facing a massive luxury tax bill if they don't trade away Lee, who is scheduled to earn $15.4 million next season.
