It's not as sexy with McAllister in there instead of Salazar, but that should change (I hope at least), by early May. I think they broke the major league record for strikeouts in one season as a pitching staff last year. They could probably top that this year.
why on earth did they send Salazar down to the minors? Shitty spring?

JD Martinez I feel is going to have a great year. He has done so well since leaving the Astros. The tigers have good depth in that lineup with Cabrera, Martinez, Cespedes, Kinsler, and now Martinez.

Hes also on my fantasy team so im biased lol.

Odd. He was actually pretty good last season. McAlister would be better off as a swing man.

McAllister was great in the bullpen last year. He consistently was hitting 95-97 when he came out of the pen. Salazar struggled in the spring though and he still had options left to be sent down. I assume he'll be back as long as he shows some kind of consistency in his first couple of minor league starts.

Best case for the season is Salazar goes into the rotation, McAllister shifts to the pen, Lindor gets called up, Jose Ramirez moves to 2nd, Kipnis moves to RF, Moss moves to DH.

^Bauer learned this pitch in the off-season. Already looks nasty

Also, EVIDENTLY Zach McAllister was throwing 95-97 in spring consistently as a starter, so this might be interesting. He struck out 1/4th of the batters he faced in Spring.

Previous to September, McAllister had a fastball that, according to our pages, averaged 92.2 miles per hour. This is a pretty good fastball! Among starting pitchers, it would’ve placed McAllister around the 68th percentile. This was consistent with McAllister’s earlier work. In his first game in relief, on September 1, McAllister’s heater averaged 95. The second time, it averaged 95.4. Then McAllister made that spot start, throwing 91 pitches. The average fastball: 95.1. That would’ve placed McAllister around the 97th percentile. Or, if you prefer names, there are names like Jose Fernandez and Zack Wheeler. And Carlos Carrasco.

Holy crap that late break.

McAlister actually put up some decent peripherals last season. Maybe he'll be serviceable back end of the rotation starter.
