Plus, why would you want to go all in for Cespedes to begin with? Whatever he gets will end up being a disaster.
This. I like Yoenis, but he likely isn't a true 6/7 win talent.

As long as he can provide that pop in that bat and his arm strength he should be fine.

3/48 for kazmir. I like it
Optout after 1

Id like them to get another bullpen arm. But their offseason isnt as bad as people think
Offense is set. If grandal(injury), joc and puig play better than last year which isnt a stretch, the division is a runaway

Pretty sure you also justified the Iwakuma signing to me by saying at least you didn't sign Kazmir.

I like Kazmir tho

Id rather have iwakuma for sure
Kazmir has an optout after 1 and didnt cost a pick so it's definitely not a bad deal

Offseason being hell was more towards losing chapman and iwakuma
Not that they lost them but the way they lost them

But nice try snipe.

I even laid out their grand plan. But ill do it again
Sign a few starters (kazmir akready and one other as zaidi said today)
Keep the top 4 pitching prospects to see which will stick, then maybe trade one or two later
Keep long term commitments low, as they already, for 2018 when they chase bryce harper

Well you guys literally can't afford it, so what else do you expect?
Our team is in the biggest market in the country. We should have owners who can afford it.

I expect to have a team that represents what the fans pay to go see.

Your team also is second to the Yankees and have owners paying Madoff settlements

Madoff settlements, never heard of that before....

We shouldnt have been in that position to begin with. Bud Selig shouldve forced the Wilpons to sell just like he did to Frank McCourt. The Mets are the 7th most valuable franchise in baseball according to Forbes yet had the 20th highest payroll in the league with teams like the Padres, Mariners, Reds, and Twins spending more.

Before Yoenis Cespedes arrived to the Mets, they were a signifcantly below average offensive team and will continue to be so unless they sign an impact bat like Upton, Cespedes, or trade for Cargo.

2 of which are corner outfielders (Cespedes gets a pass. He was decent)

So for Upton who you wanna bench, Granderson (now who leads off?) or Conforto?

And yes, the Madoff settlements is a real thing. This is I think the first or second year that they have to pay off the victims of the Madoff scandal, in which the Wilpons settled out of court. So they're paying something like $30M+ per year.

Just because your team has value, doesn't mean it doesn't have cash flow issues to pay a high payroll. A lot of the value of the Mets is tied up in the market and their stadium. The Mets recently had trouble paying into the revenue sharing program and had to take a loan for that

I know what the madoff settlements are, I was being sarcastic. I said an impact bat like Upton or Cargo, it would be difficult to bench Conforto of course.

Ok let me simplify this, the team has an ownership problem because it needs owners that are willing to spend the money that is representative of the market that they are in. The resources at its disposal are SNY (3rd largest viewership last year), relatively new stadium, and the city itself should more than make up for the significant increase in payroll. In 2009 the team had the 2nd highest payroll (157 million) in the league behind the Yankees and they werent even competitive. This past year their payroll was 101 million which was 24 million below the league average. It has been below league average for the past 5 years which is logical. This upcoming year they should be projected to be within the top 10 maybe top 5 in attendance and this team deserves an adequate ownership that is willing to spend to what is comparable to other major markets in major league baseball.
