The point is, it's not a touchdown either way.  No reason to risk overthrowing Jackson when you can make a bucket throw where only he has a shot at it.  Rhodes was also still in position to possibly undercut the route if he stuck with the wider post-corner.
 
You're over-analyzing the play due to your overwhelming hatred for everything RG3, which frankly, I don't understand.  Your boy got his shot and he blew it.
