I think people were waiting for the bigger pieces to fall first

I think teams are expecting Pistons and Suns to match whatever offer there is and not caring too much about them

Every GM in the league knew that Utah would match Hayward, but that didn't stop Charlotte. Teams play the game, and even though they know that the deal will get matched they can still say to their fans and sponsors that "hey we tried, we aren't afraid to spend big money."

I think it'll depend on whether or not they can trade Smith, but someone else might have more knowledge on the situation than I do

svg said he evaluated every million dollar option when it came greg and said the team needs him. idk, i think that's just what he has to say. we cant go into next season with the same front court.

I find it cute all the Rockets fans on Reddit who believe Capela/Pels 1st/Terrence Jones is a good offer for Rondo

I've posted about that numerous times. Especially Krstic.

However, players often don't formally retire until they're eligible for their NBA pension, and the reason for that (other than laziness) is that many of them still have cap holds with NBA teams, which means that they can still be incorporated into sign and trades as salary filler for trades. It would be an extremely impossible thing to imagine had it not already happened: at the 2007 trade deadline, Aaron McKie and Keith Van Horn were both signed and traded to complete deals while being unofficially retired

Wait, so does that TECHNICALLY mean Boston could trade the rights of Krstic, McLeon, Marbury, and Shaq for Josh Smith?

Technically yes. I think Dallas did it with Keith Van Horn, Pels did it with Brad Miller, etc.
