'Mutual interest' between Tigers, Joe Nathan
FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that "mutual interest has developed already" between the Tigers and Joe Nathan.
After Nathan declined his 2014 option earlier this month, the speculation that he could sign with the Tigers was immediate. It makes a ton of sense for both sides, as the Tigers are World Series contenders but are looking for some stability at the back-end of the bullpen. Nathan is coming off a season where he put up a 1.39 ERA while striking out over a batter per inning.
Yankees 'definitely serious' about Beltran
Bryan Hoch of MLB.com hears from a source that the Yankees are "definitely serious" about chasing after free agent outfielder Carlos Beltran this winter.
The Yankees resisted Beltran in his previous two stints in free agency, but there could finally be a match this offseason. If signed, he would likely split time between right field and the DH spot. The 36-year-old turned down a qualifying offer from the Cardinals on Monday, so he will have draft pick compensation attached. He's looking for a multi-year contract.
If anybody is foolish enough to shell out a hefty, 4 year deal to a guy with about 2 more productive seasons left in him.......it's the YankeesBig Bid'Ness said:

Yanks talking to Cards about trade for Freese
Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports that the Yankees are talking to the Cardinals about a trade for third baseman David Freese.
Freese will only get more expensive as he continues to go through the arbitration process and the Cardinals have the ability to move Matt Carpenter to third base and play Kolten Wong at second base, so it's no surprise to hear about the possibility of a trade. The 30-year-old is coming off a down year in which he hit .262/.340/.381 with nine homers and 60 RBI over 521 plate appearances, but he would be a solid backup plan for Alex Rodriguez.
Report: Yankees interested in Jhonny Peralta
According to Jon Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, the Yankees have interest in Jhonny Peralta.
The Yanks re-signed Brendan Ryan on Monday and still have Derek Jeter, but Peralta could be viewed as a third baseman or corner outfielder. He hit .303/.358/.457 for the Tigers in 2013 before getting hit with a 50-game PED suspension. The 31-year-old is said to be looking for a contract north of three years, $45 million
Joe Nathan likes Tigers, Angels, Yankees
Joe Nathan said during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM on Monday that he sees the Tigers, Angels, and Yankees as possible fits.
All three teams are logical designations, but nothing appears to be imminent. Nathan turned down his part of a mutual option with the Rangers following the season and hopes to land a multi-year contract on the open market.
