Sam Amick ?@sam_amick
Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, GM Pete D'Alessandro, coach Michael Malone met with Tyreke Evans in LA & stressed how much they want him.

Sam Amick ?@sam_amick 35s
No clarity on whether they'd match offer from New Orleans, but Evans left encouraged by the message that was sent. He likes it in Sacto.
noooooooooooo!

I don't mind it, especially if it's 4-40 or 4-44, we have some good contracts on the team already.

I think that's why I like it, nice and simple. I did a mockup of that exact court but with red in the lane and I'd rather the gold.

Kobe > Harden and it's not really close

SMH. Five years ago, sure, but now? It's not as big a gap as you're acting like. Kobe's better, but it ain't by that much.

Also, Houston has a better roster, plain and simple. Between LAL and Houston, the better option is clear as day.

BUT Houston ain't getting Dwight. It's just not gonna happen. Watch.

Offensively, Kobe is more skilled than Harden. Kobe can play iso ball, he can play the pick and roll, he can post you up, he can stand on the wing or in the corner and spot up for you, he can get out on the break, and he can come off screens. And he is elite at every last one of those things for his position. Harden on the other hand, is strictly a iso, p&r, and transition player. That's 75% of Hardens offense, while it's only 59% of Kobe's. And as a result, Kobe he is a tougher draw than Harden, he's also more efficient, turns the ball over less, and assists on more of his possessions.

But none of that stuff matters. Where Kobe pulls away is defensively. Even at his age he's still one of the leagues best perimeter defenders. Ranking well above average in every category. While Harden is a below average defender. And honestly saying he's below average is being nice. He's horrible, but I've touched on this a thousand times on this forum. The only thing he's respectable at is isolation defense, and Kobe has him there too.

I agree with everything but please stop claiming Kobe is still an elite defender. He's not. He was part of the reason why the Lakers were so atrocious defensively this season.
He gambles, is lazy in transition and loses his man way too often watching the ball.

The Lakers really weren't all that much worse defensively this year than they have been in years past, it's just been under a microscope because of all the negativity surrounding them. To further that even more, the Lakers really weren't all that bad defensively, about average (maybe below average by a hair). I'm looking at the numbers and watching the video right now. There probably wasn't their defense on the wing, that was solid. They actually allowed less than average offensive production from SG's and SF's, but allowed well above average production from PG's and just a little above average production from PF's and C's. Their problem defensively was defense at the point of attack was poor, they couldn't defend the pick and roll, their paint defense was poor, they couldn't keep their opponent off the offensive glass, and they couldn't defend in transition.

Which is kind of the problem with the D'Antoni hire. I guarantee that he didn't stress the importance of defensive rebounding enough, and that they didn't spend a lot of time practicing defending the primary break, secondary break, sideline break, zone break, etc.

I don't really think you can pinpoint everything you stated to the people defending inside and exclude wing players, defense is a team effort after all.
But the thing with Kobe is that if he's guarding the ball handler, he is still a very respectable defender and can lock you down. It's the exact opposite off ball though, which is why I don't like the notion of Bryant still being an all NBA defender. There is enough video proof of him over-helping and leaving his man on an island on numerous occasions.

Harden is a terrible defender. There's no question. Back when he was in OKC, people said otherwise, but was he as bad there, too?
