You can play Marcus Smart or Dante Exum next to MCW.

I wouldn't. Smart isn't that good off ball really. He has the shooting ability to play some 2, but he can't succeed without the ball. And Exum is considered a SG for teams with scoring PGs (Utah for example). He and MCW are too similar of players

It's a good trade but extremely limits them in the draft

If they get Monroe, their frontcourt is locked. They have MCW at the point.

If they can't get Wiggins or Parker, the next 5 best prospects are all bigs or point guards. Sixers as of now pick between 1-6.

I also don't love that for Detroit tbh. Don't love ET at all
They have other options. Smart or Exum. If they draft later Gary Harris, Hood, and GRIII.

Again, those PGs don't work with MCW

If they pick 3 or 4 overall, and can't get Parker or Wiggins, they are stuck. They aren't going to reach for a SG (what are they, Cleveland?). They would basically be forced to trade back

It's just easier for them to trade for a guy like Afflalo

Really doesn't matter what they are listed as when you have a 6'6" point guard. Would make matchup nightmares.
Plus plenty teams use the 2 ball handlers in the backcourt format.

Tyshawn Taylor going to the Pels with cash for a future pick (2nd rounder I would hope)

There's an argument to be made that you need two ball handlers in the back court. Or at least somewhere on the court. At least two. Can't just have one guy creating everything

It does matter...

You need a shooting guard who plays PG in that situation. Zach LaVine wouldn't be terrible (better than Smart+Exum for that system), but he's kinda ball-dominant.

Look at Austin Rivers. He is a SG really, but plays PG because he's not good off ball. Neither is Smart, definitely not Exum. Height is not an issue, nor defense: the offense just doesn't work nearly as well

Why are people still talking about GR3 like he's a lottery pick? Draft stock is fading.

Austin Rivers' issue isn't that he has to play PG. It's that he's not good.

He's a 9-24 range type guy. Could prove his worth during workouts and such, a la Combine. But yeah, nowhere near the top 5

And I don't see how you can classify someone as not being able to play off ball effectively when they simple aren't asked to do it, and haven't been asked/taught how to do it their entire life. If you're the best player on your team in high school and you aren't a big man, you are automatically the PG. It's on coaching at the higher levels to develop your off-ball ability. Some guys it comes natural to.

GR3? He's a borderline first round pick right now. Has disappointed all year long.

So get your off ball guy later. You don't waste a top 5 pick on a player that adds stress to your franchise player, and forcing that player to play a position he isn't familiar with. Because if he fails, you have two high draft picks at the same position

Look at fucking Dion Waiters now. Played PG at Syracuse, and forced to be a main SG for Cleveland. Now, he wants the ball more because he is ball dominant and isn't an off ball player, and is creating tension for the Cavs locker room

That has little to do with any rumored tension. The whole issue at the beginning of the year was that he was forced into being "just a SG", as labeled by Mike Brown. The 13 minutes per game Kyrie doesn't play, Dion should be in as the primary ball handler. That wasn't happening. Figure out the other 15-20 minutes or so that they play together, because both are capable of playing off ball, they just don't because the coach doesn't call plays.

Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili work fine. Their best attribute is scoring, both of them. Neither are elite play makers, but they both can do it somewhat.

LeBron, jealous of KD's shot attempts, takes 3 less shots, scores 20 less points.
