I don't believe the term "true point guard" is restricted to just being a pass first point guard.

I think a "true point guard" is a guy with a variety of skills, and can do all of the things well for his position. For a PG, that list is LONGGGGG. But some of the key points, are things like:

-Being able to control the game
-Having a high skill level (pass, dribble, shoot, defend, finish, rebound)
-Have a high stamina, both physically and mentally
-Need to have the ability to make the big plays
-Needs to be the hardest worker and the most mentally aware of what needs to be executed
-Needs to be able to make adjustments on the fly, mismatches, who's hot, etc
-Most verbal player on the court, offensively and defensively
-When to press the issue and when not to
-Can't be predictable

The loss to OKC would have been acceptable had it been close, but this team seems to have hit a snag, and it's frustrating. Yeah, they're going to take their lumps here and there, but this is crazy. Tonight will tell me a lot about Monty's defensive philosophies. There is no reason to hedge on picks set for Rubio, we must protect the roll and defend the pop. Go under the screens all day and let Rubio shoot if he wants to. They're also really bad at depending inside, so guys like Tyreke should have a good night, as should AD.
