I know, it makes me sad.

EDIT

And I'm glad you guys are calling me out. I know how it goes, and yes I'm bitter about it haha.

i will never knock a team that builds through free agency. if you can, its the smartest thing.

I hate it because they can't build their team the conventional admirable way. It's like "Fuck it, this is too hard. I'm just gonna throw money at it and hope it fixes the problem." And it's sad that that's how the NFL can be dominated.

I'm not saying you can't build with money. Cause obviously you can. But c'mon man. That's taking everything awesome away from sports. I get that it's a business. But it should be a game before it's a business. It should be about building your team because you put in the effort to build it. Not because you put some cash down on the table.

How hard is it to take already developed great players and put them all together?

So no team should've signed Peyton?

And I hate that because even with that cap, certain organizations and locations are going to be able to do this, and other will not.

That seems like conventional wisdom to me

It's not like building a contender through FAcy is a common thing. The Eagles built the "Dream Team," went 12-20 the next two years and didn't get back to the playoffs until they blew that team up. Same thing with the Bucs these last few years. FAcy can be just as big of a task as the draft, you blow a FA singing you can be handcuffed to that contract for years. It's more about finding the right guys rather than finding "better" guys.

It was just perfect that they happened to get him after the Tebow blunder. I cannot fathom how football people thought he was a franchise QB. And I hate that they were rewarded for making a crappy decision that takes years for other teams to hurdle.

Hahah I totally get and understand all of your point of views. I just personally don't agree with it. It's probably cause I'm such a draft guy and I like being able to find talent no one else saw, and I like when teams earn success because they were good at scouting players. Not because they had the money to buy other guys that other teams saw were good. This is why I respect Seattle: they were the only ones who saw anything in Wilson, Sherman, and even Lynch. Lot's of people thought he was done after Buffalo. But they were able to help him succeed. That's the kind of FA I enjoy, I hold nothing against you for criticizing me, and I understand it. It's irrational, I get that, but I'm done talking about it. I'm not going to make anyone see my POV by continuing to talk about it. So cheers.

The Fox/Elway regime had nothing to do with bringing in Tebow. It's easier to let a guy go who you have no ties to.

Edit: Yeah, I get what you're saying.

Preserving cap space and manipulating contracts is a skill in its own, can't be dismissed as "unearned" success when it works out.
