Due to licensing with NBA Store funds and NBA marketing, teams have to wait like 3 years or so to have a new jersey design, maybe even longer.

the NBA already owns Charlotte Hornets though so they could do it immediately IIRC

Per NBA rules, teams will only introduce a new third jersey at least two years after unveiling a new logo and uniform set.

This pretty much sets the Charlotte Hornets into stone Mexi. Bobcats just got new jerseys this year, and can't get new ones till 2014-15. And I'm almost 100% sure they won't have two teams in Charlotte for a year, so if the hornets do rebrand next year, it's not the Charlotte Hornets

Gale Benson said they couldn't discuss the name until the season has ended, but I'm sure it'll leak at some point.

It's a lot of speculation but a lot of people are looking at Pelicans and Cardinals.

but this whole situation is different because the NBA has owned "Charlotte Hornets" for years. the Bobcats could change the second the Hornets do im pretty sure

It is, we've known for quite some time that the NBA lifted the 2 year rebrand rules.
