Cruz was in a fight for one of the final roster spots as cutdown day approached at the end of the 2010 preseason. The team liked Cruz, but they also liked Derek Hagan and felt that Cruz could use some time on the practice squad. Giants vice president of player evaluation Chris Mara admitted to Mike Garofalo of the Newark Star-Ledger that the salsa dancing receiver was destined for waivers before some intervention from up above.

Mara himself said, "He was saved by some upper-echelon Giants front-office people,” “I’ll put it that way."

125-1 is a bit extreme.

A healthy Redskins team with an upgrade at the QB position is a team that could contend for a playoff spot.

You guys might not think Eli is a top 5 Quarterback but I sure am happy he's playing for my team.

One of these things is not like the other...

Those three, plus Peyton, are the elite QBs in the NFL. No one else is as good as they are and has the hardware to back it up. Eli is in the next tier with Big Ben. Two rings, but just simply not as good as those guys.

I hate all the talk that is going to happen in school, but in all honesty, despite them being the Jets rivals because they're the other NY team, I don't dislike the majority of the players on the Giants. I actually like a lot of players on the Giants and I don't dislike Eli, he just doesn't deserve to be called elite because he simply isn't.
Do you mind posting the postseason stats for those elite QB's in the playoffs? Im really interested who the best QB out of those are in the playoffs. Should be interesting...

Closer, but one of these things just doesn't belong.

Wonder how this game would have ended had Gronk not been hurt...

LMFAO. Man, you just lost all credibility.

You sure do have a boner for guys that can come back in the end and win it.

Tebow and now Eli.
That's a tougher list than the QB's the Pats had to face during their ten game win streak.

And Stafford > Eli?

You're the one talking about people losing credibilty?

In the words of Tiki Barber:

"Comical."

I'd still take Stafford over Eli every day of the week.

A 23 year old having that type of season, good enough for me.
I, like kam, would slot him at #5.

lol if Brady throws that ball to Welker a tiny bit lower, and Wes catches it, this conversation doesnt even occur.

Giants won the 1st Super Bowl because of their defense, 100%. Eli got MVP because no WR/TE/RB had a breakout game, and they cant give the award to an entire defensive line. It was Strahan, Osi, and Tuck in 2007 that got them the win. But you give the award to the QB most of the time; only exception is when a single non-QB has a great game.

Eli definitely played well in this Super Bowl, but they won because Tuck owned. He made Logan Mankins his bitch, and rushed Brady so much. JPP played great as well. But because not one person stood out so much, they had to give the MVP to Eli.

Like, if Jerod Mayo forced a fumble on that last Giants drive, and New England recovered and won, Brady gets MVP, not Mayo. Its a meaningless award, to be honest.

I think 95% of NFL fans can agree Brady, Rodgers, and Brees, in no order, are the Top 3.
Aside from Giants homers, Peyton is still the superior Manning, and is #4.

Eli v Roethlisberger v Stafford v Rivers. Eli and Stafford had great years this year, Roethlisberger was solid, Rivers threw many INTs

My #5 is Rivers. Compare the stats for Eli and Rivers for 2010+2011

Player A: 8,935 yards, 60 TDs, 41 INTs, 62.0% completion, 89.2 passer rating
Player B: 9,334 yards, 57 TDs, 33 INTs, 64.5% completion, 95.0 passer rating

Player A is Eli, Player 2 is Rivers. I dont know how anyone can take player A over player B, unless they want a worse QB. Remember, for as bad of a year Rivers had this year, Eli in 2010 was worse

Im not gonna go rush and say "SO AND SO IS #5" because of one good year. Consistency is key, and outside of Brady, Peyton, Brees, and Rodgers, none of the other quarterbacks have proven to be all that consistent imo
