If you go for two, and you fail, its a 7 pt lead. I honestly doubt if the Giants scored a TD, they would go for two when they need one point to tie.

If you succeed though, its a 9 point game, and the games over.

With an 8 point lead, you get a chance to stop them from tying the game if they score. With a 7 point lead, the odds of blocking an extra point are significantly lower.
