Also, TTN, don't read too much into stuff like that this close to the Draft. It's a lot of smoke, teams like to do that to make a guy like Kap's stock flex through the roof, and then good players will fall down to them. I mean, it's just how the game is played really by the opposing teams in the league.

I like how he basically admits that he stares down receivers lol. When his initial read isn't open, he runs. That is something that I picked up on when watching him play.

He also has god awful throwing mechanics and no noticeable touch on his passes... which I have neglected to mention.

I just don't care for Kaepernick as an NFL quarterback. Not right away at least.

He could develop into a good QB down the line, but to expect him to step in right away and contribute as a passer is a bit unrealistic. Hell, the same should be said for Newton as well.
First off, he didn't say he stares down receivers? I think you misunderstood part of it..

He said:
And I think that a lot of people think that in the Pistol, we're just dropping back, throwing to one guy, and calling it a day -- and then, we're going to run the option. That's really not the case, once you have someone explain to you what we're trying to get done.
And his motion doesn't worry me at all. It takes 0.65 seconds for him to release the ball. Just because it looks different, doesn't mean it's bad. It actually looks alot like Phil Rivers' motion.

And for the touch, a report came out about a month ago that one NFL coach or scout (can't remember which) said he has the best deep ball in the class. And lets face it, without touch you don't have a deep ball.

I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree about Kaep won't we.

And Mooche, the article doesn't have anything to do with the teams saying anything. It's just an interview.

Everyone's opinion is Dalton will be good on specific teams. SMH.
He needs a WC offense.

Then I would have to really question that coach or scouts ability to evaluate players. Kaepernicks deep ball is pretty awful, and certainly not the best in this class. Just because he has a strong arm doesn't mean he can throw a good deep ball.

Also, him saying "Sometimes I had to go through two different progressions" made me lol... He's accustomed to making one or two reads at most and then scrambling. He can't get away with that often in the NFL.

I'm just not sure where this love for Kaepernick came from. He's the same player now as he was before last season, and he was viewed as a 5-6th round kind of guy.

Nevada goes on a run and knocks off Boise, and Kaepernick throws a pretty fast ball on ESPN's lab shit and now he's a future pro bowler.

You also gotta put into perspective Jake, teams have real game film on him. Not the shit you see on TV or nothing, they've broken down everything about him. Yet remain high on him. Theres more to it than he just got on ESPN and threw a fast ball. Hes raw, but viewed like Josh Freeman was coming out of Kansas State. Extremely raw, Nice arm, Ability to run. ETC.

That's not the case lol.
He's not saying "sometimes". You aren't understanding what he's saying. He's saying before the play starts, he reads the defense, and knows where the hole will be, and is most likely where he will go with the ball. Then he said "there are times" when for "certain coverages" there are two progressions, and he'll make his choice then.
And he doesn't make a read and then scramble. He even said, after his progression, if no one is open, he scrambles to by time, not run with it.

You are reading it all in the wrong context.

That's not it at all. I don't even care what he's saying. He's a biased party. He's being interviewed in the days and weeks leading up to the draft, do you think he's just going to say he has no fundamental football skills and he's a raw prospect? lol, I doubt that. I know what I've seen personally, and I know what scouts are saying. He doesn't consistently go through his progressions, and it is nowhere close to what he's going to be doing at the next level.

I love you and I respect your football knowledge, but I just cannot agree with you on Kaepernick lol.

Phil Taylor's injury is going to be interesting to see where it slots him now. I know, they are refuting the reports but it's interesting to see nonetheless.

If by some stroke of luck he falls to the 41st pick, I will do backflips.

I just feel he's a first round talent, regardless.. Especially if he checked out OK with some teams. How could the Steelers let him slip by?

Am I the only one who thinks that the injury concern with Bowers is overblown?

It is and it isn't.
Arthritis is serious, but lots of guys have come out with some arthritis from injuries in highschool and such. I'm not really sure how much it could affect him though.

I think I have a different understanding of what the issue is then. I thought Ingram had concerns of arthritis, but Bowers was simply coming off a meniscus tear.

I thought the big concern with Bowers was that he may need microfracture surgery.

Yes, the surgery and missing the whole year, but now they found high potential for arthritis (since this last surgery he had before his pro-day), which would shorter his career, like Ingram, and could cause weakness in the knee. I'm not familiar with the other side effects though.

So I was watching the Year of the Quarterback thing on ESPN earlier, and there was a segement on Cam Newton. Him and his dad were in the kitchen, and Cam hands his dad a box which contained a rolex. He explains how he received it at an awards ceremony (the way he obtained it could be open to interpretation, but that's not the point) and says how he wants his dad to have it... kind of emotional I guess. Then naturally you'd expect a heartfelt moment there between the two over a gift as extravagant as a Rolex watch. Well, Cecil says "Thank ya, Cam." and continues to drink his coffee like he just passed the butter or something. I found kind of funny and awkward at the same time... though, I'm sure they're used to expensive toys at this point.

Also, you could tell how much respect every single player on the Washington football team had for Jake Locker. Everyone on that team loved the guy to death, and the on-field celebration after the Holiday Bowl win was extremely emotional. Locker is a genuine guy, and a true fucking leader without question. I want him. I wouldn't be at all upset to get him at #10.
