You cant compare what Bosh does in Miami because its too tough to value what he does on that team. Bosh at the end of the day had more ppg, rpg, and bpg over his career. And thats without Cp3.

What are you talking about, I know you've watched Miami Heat basketball games. LeBron and Wade drive on anybody and kick it out to an open Bosh for the jumper, it happens all the time. That's how he gets the majority of his points.

As far as Toronto, no he still didn't have CP3, but he had no other legit scoring options (after VC left) to compete with him for shots or rebounds. His rebounding numbers took a big hit this year when he actually had players on his team competing for them.

Like I said, look at Andrea Bargnani. It's not hard to score 20 points per game when you have no supporting cast.

Its going to be interesting to see; the cap is probably the biggest hurdle to overcome between both sides. Although contraction is said to be off the table, if the strike gets ugly enough, I think it could very well be considered a possibility. I've also heard the argument that forcing superstars to give back significant portions of their max contracts could solve the problem entirely. Even though that won't happen, will they be forced to give even a small percentage back?

I really think the owners are going to completely shit on the players in this one.

This isn't like the NFL where everyone's making money, and the owners are getting greedy. The NBA dudes opened their books, and if you're not Boston, LA, Miami, Dallas, or Chicago, you're probably losing money. The NBA owners have no incentive for their to be a season unless it's on their terms.

Thought this was good:

Stern redesigned the league brilliantly. It was floundering, and badly, but he completely turned it around into a top flight league. He did so by using the celebrity of the players and the well known faces attending games. Trouble is, he let it go too far and for too long where it's all out of whack today. The league is a victim of its own success.

The players can't complain as they're the highest paid athletes, on average, of all. The owners shouldn't complain, because they continue to throw the big bucks at the stars with reckless abandon, thus creating much of their own problem of losing money.

The fix is simple, but difficult at the same time. The salary cap has to be lowered. Player salaries will have to come down. Owners must reign in stupid contracts. Ticket prices have to be affordable. The structure of the season has to be examined.

As for the argument about the poor players losing 30% of their salary. Boo-hoo. Sympathy over. Very few of us, in this day and age, are surging ahead by spending and receiving more and more. We've all done that for decades with reckless abandon and to our great detriment. The collective bubble has burst, and it's time to come back down to earth.

Owners should profit, but that should not be guaranteed if they run their teams like idiots. Owners need caps on their stupidity and penalties for their actions when deserved. Players will earn less, but I have little sympathy for their crying when we're talking in terms of millions. Ridiculous contracts for over-hyped has-beens who are paid the equivalent of small countries to sit on the bench has to stop. Tickets or access to games remains a question. Will they aim towards a more exclusive market with fewer seats with higher prices, or more seats with lesser prices?

I'd like to see the cap, whether it's 45mil or whatever, a hard cap. I'd like to see a franchise tag. I'd like to see a restructured league format. I'd like to see tickets affordable to all. I'd like most of all to see ALL teams competitive where anyone, with good management and coaching, can be a winner, regardless of market.

I guess I'm living in fantasy land.
