Two of the runs should never have happened? He had 0 strikeouts and gave up 8 hits.. A lot more runs should have happened.
Well, since you didn't watch the game I understand you probably have no idea and the stats can be a bit misleading at times. The Tigers blew two runs, one by throwing the ball in the dirt past Cabrera at first that should have been out and then a routine ground ball to 2B or SS was bobbled and scored another that should have been an out, which both cost him two runs. Every time he'd get in some kind of trouble with guys on base, he'd get a ground ball double play to get out of it and it's not like the Texas Rangers offense is easy, so 8 hits against them with only 2 ERA, I'll take it. For his Tigers debut against the Rangers, he did a good job. He pitched a good game against one of the better offenses, he allowed 8 hits, so what.

I was just happy with what I saw & I could care less what anyone else thinks. I'm not saying he pitched a Verlander-like game, he pitched good enough for us to win and that's a ton better than Phil Coke & Charlie Furbush. Only guy I'm worried about now is Brad Penny.

Those stats aren't misleading.. He struck out 0 batters and gave up 8 hits.. That's usually not a recipe for success. When you don't miss bats, you usually get hit hard. I'm not saying Fister sucks or anything, but you're more then likely going to give up a lot more runs with that kind of performance.

Well it depends on when the hits happen and how long you pitch. If you pitch 7 innings and scatter 8 hits over that, it's not bad.

When you're not missing bats, that usually means the hitters are on your pitches.. Didn't give up a lot of runs, so there were probably a lot of atem balls.

Yeah, he pitched a good game for his Tigers debut. A few of the hits just barely fell in, I'm not worried about it. I'm not clamoring that he's a Verlander, he just pitched a solid game and we got the win. The Rangers offense is not an easy offense to keep down, I'm not worried about it. If anyone is going to cost us games, it's who is pitching today, Brad Penny. I like the addition of Fister, I'm sure it will work out.

Indians need to win tonight, and Masterson has pitched really well against his former team but I'm really excited to see Ubaldo pitch tomorrow.. Sucks that it's in Texas though.

Might be going to a Rays or Marlins game when I'm in Florida, would be cool to be at a different ballpark than Yankee/Citi/Shea. Will be real nice because the tickets are dirt cheap lol

Damn Michael Young is still playing very well at the age of 35. Dudes hitting .335 with 9 HR's and 74 RBI's. Good for him. I always wanted him on the Mets.

I wish the Yankees and Red Sox still had an actual rivalry...

Not the best first inning for Ubaldo, but limited the damage to 1 run and struck out Hamilton and Cruz on some nasty off speed pitches.

Carlos Santana with 5 RBIs in the first two innings, oh man.

Not a great start for Ubaldo, 5 innings, 4 runs, but the velocity was there and he struck out 7.. His command was lacking, looked a little nervous.

Brett Lawrie looked lost with the glove but at least he had 2 hits. Already has 2 errors in his major league career haha.

Tigers win 4-3! Valverde now 31/31 in saves. Another good pitching performance from Porcello tonight, sucks he couldn't get the win.
