Mets win again, now 3 games over .500 unbelievable lmao. Our leader in HR's, RBI's and Saves are on different teams now, lol. Its incredible how the team has played so far this year.

If someone told me Jason Bay was going to be awful, David Wright was going to be out 2 months, Ike Davis out for the year, and Santana doesnt come back until August. I wouldve never thought we would play this well. Its good to see that the culture in the clubhouse has changed significantly and that is the 1 step in turning this around.

You were playing the Reds this past series, don't give yourself too much credit.

Yea he does, lol. Best of luck to him. I will always remember him by striking out looking to Adam Wainwright in Game 7 of the NLCS with the bases loaded and 2 outs, down by 2.

Apparently Choo is suppose to be back sooner then expected.. Maybe middle of August. If that's the case, great news.

Well, now I'm convined.. The Indians shouldn't waste there time trading for someone like Ryan Ludwick. If they want to trade for Ubaldo to have him for the next 3-4 years, whatever but this season is a lost cause.

Tigers won big, 12-2. Tigers are desperately looking for another starting pitcher.

  1. Erik Bedard – Detroit is waiting to see how his first start back from the DL (strained left knee) goes Friday night in Tampa. If he performs at or near expectations, count on the Tigers making a big play for him within the next 24 hours. He’s on a 1-year contract and shouldn’t cost too much by way of high-end prospects. Bedard would also give the Tigers the lefty arm that their current rotation is missing.
  2. Jeremy Guthrie – The righty from Baltimore is a solid fall back option that the Tigers are familiar with and whose game they like. Guthrie would solidify the wobbly 5th spot in the Tigers rotation instantaneously and could become a major player down the stretch in what would be his first career pennant chase.
  3. Jason Marquis – Detroit wouldn’t be inquiring on him at this late hour if they weren’t seriously considering bringing him on board. Marquis is a free agent next year, making him a classic 2-month rental. The Nats have said they will not eat any of the remainder of his $7.5M salary if he is traded. He is 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA and 1.42 WHIP thus far in 2011.
  4. Aaron Harang – San Diego has pulled back from full out shopping Harang but Detroit could still make a play for the long-time NL’er. He pitches in Petco Park, which has helped buoy his 2011 statistics. The fear is that an NL to AL crossover would be a tall order for the aging Harang.
  5. Ubaldo Jimenez – The Tigers want his services but have reportedly balked at the extreme price tag the Rockies have put on his head. Detroit appears unwilling to move top prospects Jacob Turner or Nick Castellanos, which means Ubaldo is nothing more than a long shot. The only way he lands in Detroit is if Dombo gets desperate and goes for broke. (Update: a very recent update says the Tigers are willing to part with Jacob Turner if it means getting Jimenez in return – stay tuned on this major storyline).

I loved watching that game. Just a complete dominance, which is rare so you have to enjoy it when it happens. Porcello is getting it done. He was just money, and the bats were on fire. 1st two games had a combined 33 runs on 50 hits, but these last two games should be lower scoring games. Below vs. Haren scares me on paper. We'll need to hit again, and the Sunday JV vs. Weaver match up i'm expecting a game like the JV/Haren game earlier in the year, but we'll see.

3 things

1. Matt Kemp owns

2. Not cool for Carlos Carrasco to head hunt. throw at Butler's ribs or wait until melky comes back up and throw behind him AND at him

3. Tigers are calling up Jacob Turner, so maybe they won't be acquiring that pitcher at the deadline after all

I have no idea what the Tigers are doing. The trading deadline is approaching and now they are calling up Jacob Turner in the middle of a division race? Something is up.

I hope they aren't trading Turner lol.
And if they are, if it's not for Jiminez, I'll be super mad lol.

According to Jon Heyman, the Tigers will be calling up top prospect Jacob Turner tomorrow. Turner had been rumored to be a key piece in the Tigers' attempt to acquire Ubaldo Jimenez, but it appears that the Tigers are no longer in the running for his services, per Danny Knobler. Turner was on the 40-man roster already, but they will need to clear a spot for him on the 25-man.

Turner was the #1 prospect in the Tigers' system on most lists coming into the season, and had been the team's top draft pick back in the 2009 draft. Turner came into the season as Baseball America's #21 prospect in all of baseball, and spent the entirety of the 2011 season with their AA affiliate, Erie.

Turner has a 3-5 record this year, with a 3.48 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 113 2/3 innings pitched. Minor League Ball's John Sickels gave Turner an A- grade (borderline B+) in the offseason, and worried that the Tigers might rush him. This really doesn't seem like that big of a surprise, as the Tigers have been known in the past for bringing their pitchers up quickly through their system (Rick Porcello, among others).

Turner turned 20 in May, and will be the first high school player from the 2009 draft to reach the big leagues. I imagine they are bringing him up to start tomorrow's game in place of Duane Below, but I haven't seen any confirmation on that yet. This could very well be a showcase, but I would imagine that any teams interested in Turner have already seen him pitch at least a few times in the past month.

But really, I think we are trying Turner before we go for a trade. Not a bad idea I guess.
