2010 NFL Mock Draft, Version 5.1

This edition features the actual draft order, no more subjective projections on teams and slots, save the playoff teams.
They are slotted according to regular season results at this point. Also, the Jaguars and Bears will flip a coin for #10/#11 (Denver has Chicago's pick) and the same is true of the Panthers/Titans and Falcons/Texans. I flipped those coins and went with the results, but they are subject to change.
Not all underclassmen have declared their intentions yet. Several who have yet to say one way or the other are included here; I'll sort all that out after declaration day passes.
As always, this is what I expect the teams would do with the given picks in the given scenarios. Please do not mistake this for what I would do in the same situation, because it's often quite different.
Round 1
1. St. Louis Rams: Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska
Not their most pressing need, but Suh is a once-a-generation talent. A defensive-minded coach like Steve Spagnuolo should demand him and will know how to use his new toy.
2. Detroit Lions: Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma
In most recent drafts McCoy would be the clear-cut #1 defender. The Lions happily take him as a consolation prize and get the up-front playmaker they sorely need on an improving young defense.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: C.J. Spiller, RB, Clemson
They already have Derrick Ward and Cadillac Williams, but Spiller has Chris Johnson-esque speed, vision, and versatility. That can dynamically change an offense that often lacked punch. There is a real fear of being the team that passes on "the next Chris Johnson," and if the Bucs don't take him, expect someone to trade up to take him here.
4. Washington Redskins: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
New coach Mike Shanahan will require a new QB to build around, and Clausen has experience in a Shanahan-type offense and playing under intense scrutiny in South Bend.
5. Kansas City Chiefs: Eric Berry, S, Tennessee
Berry is an elite playmaker that can play base safety at a high level and also slide to corner in nickel packages. The Chiefs need both, and Berry's leadership will be an asset too.
6. Seattle Seahawks: Russell Okung, T, Oklahoma State
The OL has been neglected for too long, and that's why the Seahawks are picking so high. Okung is ready to start on either side and has the athleticism to handle the speedy 3-4 defenses within the division.
7.Cleveland Browns: Joe Haden, CB, Florida
Haden compares most readily to Darelle Revis, a legit lock-down man cover corner that can tackle in the open field and has a high football IQ. The Browns secondary has been plagued by blown coverages and awful tackling for too long, and Haden can pair with Eric Wright to make a very good CB duo.
8. Oakland Raiders: Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida
Dunlap fits the Al Davis mold perfectly: athletically freakish, plays with real menace and abandon, has had discipline and consistency issues. They badly need Dunlap’s pass rush presence on the edge.
9. Buffalo Bills: Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma State
This pick is contingent on my hunch that the Bills will deal for a more proven QB (early guess: Jason Campbell) and not draft one here. Bryant will fill the T.O. (early guess for his landing spot: Tampa Bay) role of field-stretching receiver with good size.
10. Jacksonville Jaguars: Derrick Morgan, DE, Georgia Tech
Morgan is a proven producer with a barrage of inside and outside moves, and he's no slouch against the run either. He's a more consistent, smarter talent than incumbent Derrick Harvey.
11. Denver Broncos (from CHI): Rolando McClain, LB, Alabama
Thumping between-the-tackles run stuffer with the ability to blitz up the gut. An alpha-male presence from a winning program is precisely what the Broncos need to bolster an old defense that collapsed down the stretch.
12. Miami Dolphins: Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois
Miami's offense screams for a playmaking #1 wideout, and Benn has that sort of size, speed, and attitude. The Dolphins rolled the dice on an Illini player with similar questions in Vontae Davis and were rewarded, and that means something to Bill Parcells.
13. San Francisco 49ers: Trent Williams, T, Oklahoma
Williams slides in value because he's almost certainly "just" a right tackle, but that makes him a perfect fit for the 49ers, who have Joe Staley at LT and a solid center but little else up front.
14. Seattle Seahawks (from DEN): Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma
His shoulder injury is a major concern, but his incredible accuracy and underrated athleticism make it worth the risk with this "bonus" pick. Matt Hasselbeck appears done and Seneca Wallace is not the answer.
15. New York Giants: Brandon Spikes, LB, Florida
With Antonio Pierce gone and the defense lacking all sorts of punch and fire, the Giants turn to the fiery, pugnacious Spikes to take over in the middle. He improves the range and speed of the LBs.
16. Tennessee Titans: Mike Iupati, G, Idaho
The Titans go against the grain with the highest-rated guard prospect since Alan Faneca. In terms of draft grades regardless of position, Iupati will be no lower than fifth and represents the best value/return.
17. San Francisco 49ers (from CAR): Brandon Graham, DE, Michigan
Graham is a physical pass rusher who is also accustomed to stuffing the run with little help around him. Playing in front of Patrick Willis will make him even better.
18. Pittsburgh Steelers: Anthony Davis, T, Rutgers
Not ideal in terms of being a mauling run blocker, but Davis has the agility and aptitude to get out to the second level. His mirror skills in pass protection are unmatched in this draft class.
19. Atlanta Falcons: Sergio Kindle, LB/DE, Texas
Dynamic athlete whose stock will rise after workouts, he benefits from being the same sort of player in the same role as Brian Orakpo, who just notched 11 sacks as a rookie playing OLB in a 4-3 base and DE on passing downs. Kindle isn't as big but plays meaner.
20. Houston Texans: Jared Odrick, DT, Penn State
The Texans want a stronger physical presence in the middle with some ability to make plays in the backfield. That fits Odrick to a "T," though he doesn't always show his "A" game.
21. New York Jets: Ricky Sapp, LB, Clemson
Rex Ryan hopes that the speedy Sapp becomes the player Vernon Gholston evidently never will be: a stand-up edge rusher that can change direction and get off a block.
22. Baltimore Ravens: Rob Gronkowski, TE, Arizona
The junior missed the 2009 season, but scouts know who he is, often labeling him "the next Todd Heap.". As the Ravens have the original, aging Heap, Gronkowski is a perfect fit.
23. Arizona Cardinals: Charles Brown, T, USC
The Cards would love to upgrade at the tackle position, where they are merely serviceable right now. Brown has great feet and a strong motor that will help the converted TE to learn on the fly.
24. Green Bay Packers: Corey Wootton, DE, Northwestern
He's ideal to play 3-4 DE and his quickness will give the plodding, subpar lines in the NFC North fits. At just 75-80% recovered from knee surgery he was one of the best pass rushers in the country, wait until he's healthy.
25. Cincinnati Bengals: Brandon LaFell, WR, LSU
With the loss of Chris Henry, the Bengals need a big field-stretcher at wideout. LaFell has great body control and knows how to separate at the line, which bode well for breaking the SEC WR cycle of failure.
26. New England Patriots: Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
First off, I don't expect New England to keep this pick; I see them packaging this with a second rounder or two and moving way up. But the idea of Tebow as a unique weapon certainly has appeal for Belichick, and not having to do too much too soon makes New England an ideal landing spot for Tebow while he polishes off his real rough edges as a QB.
27. Philadelphia Eagles: Taylor Mays, S, USC
A physical specimen like Mays is simply too tantalizing to fall much further than this, even if he lacks any sort of instincts in coverage and plays with blinders on (both legit critiques). The Eagles have a history of finding ways to take advantage of guys who do one thing great, and Mays fills the box as well as any safety in a long time.
28. Dallas Cowboys: Bruce Campbell, T, Maryland
Man-mountain LT Flozell Adams is quickly nearing the end, which makes man-mountain Campbell a great fit on the Dallas line. His run blocking made a quantum leap in 09 but it needs another to fully replace Adams. Consider this his floor.
29. Minnesota Vikings: Perrish Cox, CB, Oklahoma State
Scrappy speedster runs a little hot and cold, but he also adds value as a punt returner extraordinaire. He fits their philosophy of most athletically gifted player available at a position of need, if not neediest spot.
30. San Diego Chargers: Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Georgia Tech
With LT either gone or close to it, the Bolts get the inside/out runner they need to attack the underbelly of defenses. A power back pairs nicely with Darren Sproles, and Dwyer runs with great pad level.
31. New Orleans Saints: Jason Pierre Paul, DE, South Florida
A one-year college wonder with outstanding explosiveness and seemingly good awareness, JPP brings juice to a pass rush that needs an infusion of fresh energy.
32. Indianapolis Colts: Vladimir Ducasse, T, Massachusetts
The Tony Ugoh experiment failed, and their lack of tackle depth really hurt down the stretch. Ducasse is almost too tall but has surprisingly powerful athleticism for his height, and could play guard as well.
