Would you believe Cubs Twitter is arguing 4 years of Addy is better than 1 year of Machado?
A, Addy will never amount to half the player Machado is.
B, The Cubs aren’t poor and would have a huge advantage in keeping Machado beyond current season.
C, Cubs Twitter is full of complete idiots...
Fuck, I hate this. Actually got excited when I heard a rumor he was chatting with the Angels. CC is a legacy at this point but I think the Bombers have already squeezed the last bit of baseball he's got left in him.
Keep an eye on the Cubs. Not saying anything is imminent but there's suddenly Addison Russell + for Machado debate happening. Cubs could use the bat in their lineup, they've got the young pieces to move, and they are poised to offer a big contract come next offseason.
Matter of fact, I can't...
Technically yes, however, some small market teams have been pressured by MLB to spend more money on players and try to field better teams. I believe the Royals were the last team to be called out on it, just prior to the Dayton Moore arrival.
By NFL standards, yes. And that’s my point, an alternative has to play by collegiate standards. Mobile, gun-slinging QBs in college are way more fun to watch.
We’re going to see the Phillies completely mash this season. Not sure how it’ll shake defensively but so love Santana’s bat in the lineup, near Hoskins and Franco.
If Kopech, Moncada, Eloy, and Robert pan out, the White Sox will be lethal within a few seasons. I can see Machado agreeing to be the veteran leader of this young club but I don’t see the White Sox ponying up the biggest offer come offseason.
Now flipping him to the Yankees is interesting...
This has long been debated in forums I'm frequented over the years and I've always argued against. The Yankees have overspent their competition for years and ironically won less rings, the more they tried to buy talent. At the same token, piss poor teams like the Rays and A's have managed to...
Cards have been after Donaldson for over a year now. Jays may be thinking its time to sell. Yanks are loaded and the Red Sox will be come Opening Day too. St. Louis has plenty of solid 'spects to part with and their goal is to get back into the WS before Yadi hangs 'em up.
Andrelton Simmons and Kinsler up the middle should be fun to watch. The Angels are a front-line starter and bullpen away from getting back into the postseason. Their roto last year was pretty decimated by injury.
Can't fault Jeter when the Marlins turn little-to-no-profit. Getting rid of Stanton was basically washing his hands clean of a massive contract they couldn't afford. Ozuna trade did net a decent haul from the Cardinals. I think they're trying to talk Yelich into staying in Miami and serving as...
I first read this story like, "WTF?" Reality is teams knew this before the bidding/presentation process. There's a worst-case scenario that would see him undergo TJ surgery, if it gets worse or persists, next season.
Machado wants to play SS. He’s easily best in the game if he does make the switch and that will justify his monstrous contract demand next offseason.
Yankees, like many teams, won’t deal w/o an extension in place first. The Phillies are said to be interested but again, not interested in parting...
