The font and text treatment itself isn't bad. It just doesn't seem to work with everything else that's going on in the sig. I think it would look better with just "SHERMAN" and center it vertically. Maybe have "Richard" small and in pink. Solid work, though.

I love work like this because it shows of the significance the basic design principles like lay-out, color, and contrast.    more =/= better   ... so nice had to comment twice.

Some nice elements and ideas going on here but the execution is a bit sloppy. Nice job stepping out of the box, though. I love the text idea and might have to steal that from you.
