Rumor: Percy Harvin Wants To Be Traded

April 22 is the first day of the Vikings offseason workouts at Winter Park and rest assured Percy Harvin won’t be there.

There has been a lot of speculation about Harvin’s future with the Vikings, and the wide receiver has refused to comment about the different reports.

However, the latest word from some good sources around the NFL is that Harvin, who missed the final seven regular-season games as well as the playoff game because of a serious ankle injury, has told the Vikings that he doesn’t want to play for them and wants to be traded.

Harvin’s relationship with the Vikings has been much-discussed, including rumors that he isn’t pleased with the coaches’ plans for him on offense and that he does not get along with the medical staff. Quite simply, it seemed as though Harvin wasn’t happy here, and that was made obvious when he didn’t hang around the team during the late-season push toward the playoffs while he rehabbed his ankle.

However, Harvin is signed through this year, and the Vikings currently are $16 million under the NFL salary cap of $123 million. So they have the resources to give him some money if his salary is the problem.

Harvin, who despite missing those final seven games still led the team with 62 receptions and 677 receiving yards while scoring five touchdowns, made $2,782,500 this past season with incentives.

Agreed. Calvin money should only be for Calvin. That's why it's called Calvin money. kinda straight forward ;)

he should get a solid deal though. What he's being paid is pretty awful. I think Cruz's contract will be a good outline for what Harvin gets.

Starting to NOT like this guy. He missed seven games last season and yet we still managed to make the playoffs. At this point, I'm ready to move on from this fiasco. Lets pick up what we can for him and focus our attention on bringing in a couple of new targets. Mike Wallace seems destined for Miami so I'm gonna say sign Greg Jennings and draft one: Hunter or Hopkins.

I agree. What I meant was, Cruz's deal will probably set the ceiling on how high Harvin can go.

Um, no. Harvin is used in way more sets than Cruz, to include special teams. Adrian Peterson aside, Percy is the best player on the Minnesota Vikings. Is Victor Cruz the best New York Giant? And how would Victor Cruz fair without Hakeem Nicks playing across the field? Might I remind you people Percy Harvin hasn't played alongside a legit WR threat since 2009 with Sidney Rice.

Based on pure numbers, yes, Cruz should get paid more than Harvin. He absolutely should, and this is coming from a Vikings fan.

I was for keeping Harvin until I heard the "near-Megatron" type of contract he supposedly wants. If that's true, trade the son of a bitch and up your deal for Mike Wallace. He's being a complete diva.

It's starting to sound like Percy wants a deal based on potential instead of known worth. There's this place called Earth that he needs to come back down to.

Cruz is their #2 or 3 best offensive player, so idk see how that's different from Harvin being the Vikes 2nd best

How did he do without Nicks? In 3 games this year, Cruz caught 68.9% of his 29 targets for 201 yards on 20 catches and 4 TDs (67 yards, 1.3 TDs, 6.7 catches per game on 9.7 targets)

Cruz's entire season stats were catching 60.1% of his 143 targets for 1092 yards on 86 catches and 10 TDs (68.3 yards, 0.6 TDs, 5.4 catches per game on 8.9 targets)

His stats are pretty much the same with and without Nicks. 1 less target, 1 less catch, 1 less TD, 1 more yard per game.

And Harvin does returning, he is not on Special Teams. Matt Slater is a STer, Kassim Osgood is a STer. Harvin is a returner in which the KR game is becoming extinct, and does not warrant extra money because of such (plus Cruz was a great PR at UMass as well)

Victor Cruz is the better receiver, more trustworthy receiver, and is less of a headcase. As a Pats fan, I'd give $9-11M for Cruz, where I wouldn't go over $9.5M for Harvin at all

Harvin is a Seahawk.

OT: Nicks is much better than Cruz, and so is Harvin.
